Heard rumors today that Ozomatli are gone from 98.7

Looked at the 98.7 website and no more Ozomatli Morning or Ozolocal (which was a joke anyway).
There's old podcasts up but under "on air" there is no morning show listed and their "Ozolocal" is no longer listed among the shows.

That lasted about 2 months? Anybody know what happened?

Dont know what happened but that would explain the ad they have out for Morning Show Producer on the CC website.

What is up all over this country they are handing out the pink slips in radio and other professions it seems there is no safe radio station to work at.

I still think they have stuck with danny and jamie or jamie and her cohosts. All this change just confuses the listener.

To paraphrase an old baseball axiom regarding managers:

Radio people are hired to be fired.

It raises the question - Did something "happen" as a cause or did CC not see the ratings move quickly enough?

For such a big splash you would think they would give them more than 2 months to catch on.

Is this what we have to look forward to in the PPM world?

No such thing as establishing a show with the audience?

So what do you think their move will be?

I suppose they will go back to the tried and true lisa foxx in the morning.

Wow just think five short years ago she was doing afternoons with mr seacrest and now look where he is at after five years.

EVERYWHERE

98.7 just can't seem to get it together.

The suits don't seem to understand it takes time to build an audience.

Haven't spoken to anyone over at CC yet, but think about it. A band doing mornings while still trying to maintain a concert and recording schedule is nearly impossible. It's tough enough for "real" radio people to do a daily show and make it a success. This experiment was doomed from the start.

does it really matter? music radio is doomed and taking chances on 2nd rate bands to host morning shows previously hosted by pros fails everywhere. Desperate management taking desperate steps when people don't want to hear the same garbage everywhere they listen.

QUOTE FROM CLEAR CHANNEL/L.A. VP/Programming MICHAEL MARTIN "the fact that we now get ratings almost instantly with PPM and saw a significant ratings decline from the moment we started playing less music in the mornings, brought us to the decision to return to an all-music format in AM drive."

Doesn't talk take time to build? Oh well for patience. Most people who want talk were probably looking elsewhere already anyways.

Yes, it does... not to mention that when you're dealing with a new type of data such as PPM, you have to be a little more careful before making a knee-jerk decision. It sounds to me like Michael Martin doesn't have a clue as to how to properly analyze and then make a decision based on PPM info. But hey, he works for CC, so no experience necessary, right?

the other part of that quote referrs to the band touring and recording, that it was going to make it impossible for them to fully dedicate themselves to doing the morning show.

I am not sure they could ever mount a serious challenge to KROQ without a good morning personality show. Instead, maybe CC should use FM 98.7 to preserve their KFI franchise by simulcasting AM 640. They need to bring down the demos for KFI and an FM signal may do the trick.

I've said that in addition to other posters. But the rumors all seem to be around 92.3 and not 98.7.

But, isn't 92.3 already doing better than 98.7, ratings-wise? Seems like 98.7 is the frequency that needs a new format, not 92.3.

If you look at the PPM ratings on this website under the ratings tab you will see KROQ is in 9th place and 98.7 is in 10th place. Is 98.7 really bombing when it's only one place behind KROQ??
