Hell, the Stiffs thread is longer than that! (Rimshot, grey Fidelipac with gummy red border Dennison label, rattling tension bar and worn pads.)

In the book, how come no mention of Jay Meyers, who was the one who really brought up the ratings of WVOR and WBUF?

Bob, my recollection is that Jay Meyers was long gone when WVOR really hit its stride in the 80s and became top-rated with billings to match.  He was not there when Palvino came onboard as GM at the station, maybe that's why he wasn't mentioned in Jack's book.

I concur yugoidar...having been there. (and I'll bet JIBGUY is a member of Jay's fan club!! :D)

I'm not sure of the true history there...but I give creedence (NO-Not the Clearwater Revival) .to the Research Group for the success..or shall I REALLY say -- the staff & execution of GOOD radio - at WVOR & WBUF!! In retrospect...it was perfect timing, with perfect formatics!! An ideal situation, with EXCELLENT PEOPLE- the KEY! ;D

Jay irritates me to this day...because the environment made him look good...but DAMN...it was the PEOPLE executing the Perfect Storm. Hence, as an outsider today, I shake my head daily to say "what happened"!

Bygones.

I'm sure I'm not mentioned in the 96 pages...but when I get hold of the book, I'm sure I'll be shaking my head- both positive & negative...because whether I like it or not - Jack is a Legend in Rochester radio...and how he told it is his decision.

Maybe not all,
HDBG
