PANIC @ WARM?

Daryl,

You've proven yourself over and over as a winner. Didn't you work in Bellingham, Portland, and Star 101.5.
All of you sounded very good. It's alway the jocks that take the ax when the music, promotions, or lack there of are off kilter. Management failed, and you are to blame.

Hey dunno,
Thrilled you remember my career...add in some national syndication and a traipse through the mid west...do I know you...? Maybe not.
I love radio. My brother built a transmitter when I was 4, put me on the air and I was hooked. Went full time while I was a freshman at WSU.
25 years later and I can't believe how fast time has passed. Very lucky, to be a part of all this-and so many great stations...
I would love to continue to be on the air; as my Dad used to say:
We shall see

I highly doubt that Delilah will get the axe from KRWM being as KRWM is her flagship station. Then again, KBIG did drop Billy Bush earlier this year, about the same time Cumulus dropped the show.

What is incorrect?

Flagship station.

And the premise that just because Delilah is from Seattle that she is immune from being removed from the station.

She's syndicated by Premiere Networks (Clear Channel.) She doesn't do the show from KRWM.

She does the show from her home in Port Orchard (Hence the last "Local" connection with KRWM's city of license...or at least near it).

Only adds to sentimental value, still doesn't make it a "flagship."

They really should change the COL to Seattle. It hasn't been a "Bremerton" station in nearly 30 years. It should be a minor thing by now, one could hope......

AQH, what do you think this means?
KRWM is also the flagship station of Delilah Rene's nighttime syndicated program for Premiere Radio, which originates from the station's studios (she lives in Seattle). Prior to going nationwide, Delilah's program was a regular nightly feature on KRWM. If this is not a fact, this should be corrected. Isn't the rule that you can't change a station's city of license if there is no other station licensed to it?

It means you need to quit believing everything you read on Wikipedia.

That's it? Where she does her show doesn't really matter at least to me, but I was always under the impression that a flagship station carried the program for its entire run? Or is that not always the case?

A flagship station is the originating location of the show. for a station to be a flagship the show must originate from its studios.

Delilah originates from Port Orchard, the signal goes from there directly to Sherman Oakes, Ca. where Premiere Networks put it out to the affiliates either via satellite or WAN cast voice tracks with a matching music/spot log, etc. A few high profile stations have custom WAN cast voice tracks exclusive to their own markets. The rest have custom pre recorded local ID's and liners that may or may not be updated regularly.

Warm is an affiliate.

Not always the case......Delilah started her program on the old KING-AM, then moved to KLSY, then briefly to KJR-AM, then back to KLSY. After Sandusky bought KRWM, the program was moved there and the syndication of her program began a few years later. Also, she was originally with Jones Radio Networks (now Dial Global). Now she's with Premiere/Clear Channel.

As mentioned, KRWM is now just another affiliate.

So change is inevitable.....

When did they buy KRWM? Delilah has been there as long as I can remember. I remember KLSY had a local show known as Lights Out that was similar hosted by Charlie Brooks and Jannet Wilson on Saturday nights later full time.

KRWM seems to have that WAN voice track broadcast, with Delilah mentioning Seattle and Warm 106.9. KAFE's is the satellite version, national with IDs before commercial breaks.

Delilah originally hosted the prototype of "Lights Out" on KING-AM (it wasn't called "Lights Out" IIRC) KLSY then featured it as "Lights Out with Delilah" sometime in 1984 and it became a HUGE hit. Then for something (contract dispute or whatever), she moved her show to KJR-AM (when it was still AC) but the "Lights Out" name still stayed with KLSY.. Then she returned to KLSY and hosted it for the rest of the '80s and into the early '90s. After 106.9 was bought by Sandusky, they began shuffling the softer music and personalities (including Delilah) over to 106.9 and KLSY became a "hotter" AC. But Delilah was the original host of "Lights Out".
