Since someone brought it up about Broward County, I may be
moving down there for some TV/radio work...I've found some
decent condo rental deals, but in terms of "good and bad"
in terms of safety, where should I look, and where should
I avoid? Thanks...

Well, since we're on the topic

...I have felt (not because my condo is there) that Dania Beach is Broward's best kept secret. And you gotta go to the Jai-Alai, Pirate's Inn bar, John U. Lloyd Park, and to Jaxson's Ice Cream!
Wilton Manors is a pretty good semi-cheap place...
Hollywood and Hallandale (east of 95) are good fairly cheap bets.
I dunno, I've just always been partial to housing near the coast. You get out to the Pines, Sunrise, Weston, etc. the ocean breeze is almost nil and the heat is horrible.
hmm...places to avoid? I tend to not go through shady areas, but
some places in Pompano, Hollywood, Oakland Park, and Ft. Lauderdale can be sketchy. As a
general rule, some of the stuff between the turnpike and 95 are industrial and run-down. Lots of suburbs to the west, and to the east stuff is upkept pretty well. As I said, the area changed so much in just ten years...I lived in a $400/month duplex next to a burned-out meth lab in 1997, now its all nice $250k+ condos...and vice-versa!
Good luck with Broward County. Given the choice between Dade and Broward, it's a much safer and cheaper (generally) place to live. But be prepared for high taxes, fascist code enforcement, and bad traffic and drivers!
Other than that, it's a beautiful place to live, and the radio scene there is probably the coolest on the east coast!
