Last night was a night to remember. All of the old faces were there, Jammin J, Homie Marco (who drove all the way from San Antonio to see the station sign off) jenny fly and all the recently laid off DJ's. Crisco was in good spirit while Coolaid seemed to be taking a little harder than the rest. I didnt see G man or Ovadoze. Whats so funny is that the station helped the careers of so many Houston rappers. The only rapper that made it out to show love was Lucky Luciano. The music stopped at one point, and Crisco announced to the crowd that the station would be going off the air. The crowd of loyal listeners showed obvious dissapointment.Kiotti tried to liven the mood by following that with a freestyle where he spoke about nothing relevant to the situation instead rapped parts of the songs he is getting radio play with. Lucky Lu saved the day by taking the mic and wrecking it. Started by saying its all good cause radio never played him but he still gets paid and upset Kiotti by saying " Not your baby mamas, Im Kiotti's favorite rapper. " the crowd loved it. The rest of the night was filled with drunken upset comments from everyone that really made no sense but in an nutt shell everyone just felt like they had a close friend pass. It felt like a wake! It really was a sad night.

If it's the same as the previous incarnation, Que Buena is a Regional Mexican format that leans more towards the music of western Mexico, while Estereo Latino covers central and northern Mexico tastes. An English language parallel would be the various formats of Country music...such as Nashville versus Texas Country, or the variants that come out of California, the Plains states, the midwest, or Canada.

QB is a close companion to EL, going after slightly different demos for a broader overall appeal between the two. Fits into the cluster far better than Party ever did.

I'm guessing that Univision didn't want to axe Que Buena the first time around, but had to clear a format to make way for a battle with Mega, in the form of Amor, later Tu Musica. Que Buena is a tested concept, so Univision has a pretty good idea of how it will work here.

I think I've noticed the flip earlier today when Party 93 became another Que
Buena clone; Furthermore, Although that station is still based in Houston, It has identified as KPTY-FM Port Arthur/Beaumont, and it has shifted the market from Houston to The Golden Triangle Area. And with that shift, it leaves The B/PA/O area with the only station that plays R&B/Soul-Magic 102.5-Which has NO relation to KMJQ (Majic 102.1). And, on that note, it leaves Houston with KBXX as the city's only R&B Ststaion.

There were no ¡Qué Buena! clones to begin with, so this one could hardly be another.

Furthermore, Although that station is still based in Houston, It has identified as KPTY-FM Port Arthur/Beaumont, and it has shifted the market from Houston to The Golden Triangle Area.

KPTY / KQBU has always been licensed to Pt. Arthur. There has been no shift of anything.

First of all, after the Party was over in Houston, I can tell you that COX & Cumulus are in position to flip either KHJK or KHPT-two poorly rated stations-to Hip-Hop & R&B to directly compete with The Boxx. Right Now, KHMX is safe-for now, so I believe it's too close to The Boxx. Meanwhile, KRBE has tweaked its Top-40 format to go head to head with MIX, although that station has lost Sam Malone and I believe They might pick Seacrest up for its morning show fix, currently vacated by Michele Fisher.
