party 93.3 houston flip rumors

Obviously, Hot 95-7 really did picked up some Party listeners after their station was suddenly flipped.

im guessing you heard their new announcement yesterday too "welcome to the new party, hot 957" ;D

First of all, after the Party was over in Houston, I can tell you that COX & Cumulus are in position to flip either KHJK or KHPT-two poorly rated stations-to Hip-Hop & R&B to directly compete with The Boxx. Right Now, KHMX is safe-for now, so I believe it's too close to The Boxx. Meanwhile, KRBE has tweaked its Top-40 format to go head to head with MIX, although that station has lost Sam Malone and I believe They might pick Seacrest up for its morning show fix, currently vacated by Michele Fisher.

im not really comfortable with cumulus doing it for 2 years then making it disappear, but i would say now is the perfect time for cox to try again. the last time they tried it there were already 2 urbans (party and the boxx). now they can fill in that empty 2nd spot.

Hey stan, KPTY is indeed still licensed to Port Arthur. Checked the ID at 4 different TOHs and they all are the same KPTY-Port Arthur/Houston. (Although the Port Arthur now sounds like Pote Artoor for some reason) No mention of Beaumont whatsoever. Someone needs to drop it in the ashtray. They've had enough.

I could see Cox flipping The Point and moving the 80s music to K-Hits. Power 106.9 (unless KRBE goes back to the Power 104 slogan)?

I'd doubt that, but power 106-9 could work, or power 107 (since the frequency is close to there) or 106-9 the beat.

Party 93.3 was a good alternative to the Box and hot 957 pity it turned into another crap spanish language station.

It would be great if we could have "our" KPTY back in Phoenix.

The rebirth of Arizona's Party Station! 103.9 KPTY... but this is just wishful thinking - VERY unlikely.
Besides, times have changed and I've finally gotten over that format change... although it took a good few years.

When I REALLY think of it now, it probably wasn't all that great, it was just that the music of those times were different... but still, the rhythmic "party station" format has always been my favorite since those days. They probably would've evolved over time anyway, but still, it would've been nice to have a Party Station 2002 - present. They were at their best the first time around as "Arizona's Party Station" in 1997-1998, before trying to do a rock format and switching back to "The Party" in 2000 to almost do as well as the first time. Then I go to Atlanta for a little while in 2001 and come back three weeks later to find kpty GONE!

But why dwell on the past? I have three (or four) rhythmics to choose from (in addition to a latin rhythm) now....

(Speaking of latin rhythmic, the latin rhythm did try to consider themselves as Arizona's Party Station for a while, but... that didn't last too long. Besides, it didn't make too much sense, although they carried the same formattics, but just in spanish. Even though I don't speak spanish, I surely hope that... well, I'll just say we already have enough Regional Mexican stations... in my opinion. Leave the Latin Rhythm alone.)
