I believe that AM930 WEOL in Elyria, Ohio was an affiliate.
Gil Gross. I think the show was gone in a few weeks.I know that after Paul Harvey's death, ABC tried to keep it going, does anyone recall who the replacement was? I think it may have been his son, or an ABC radio news anchor that would fill-in for Harvey on a regular basis. Trying to replace the irreplaceable with success didn't happen, as the program seemed to just disappear.
Was the chowder vendor/future soup titan named Campbell?I seem to recall Harvey's 'The Rest of the Story' running on WGR 550 AM in the mid 80s, but I can't recall if it was early mornings or late afternoons. I know I would listen to it carpooling into work with my father in law.
PH: "And do you know who that chowder vendor was, Americans? Who hand split those cherrystone clams with bruised and cut fingers?" Who created an empire of soup carts in Manhattan?"
Me, exasperated: "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAN, GET TO THE PAYOFF!!!"
Father in law: "That was an interesting story!"
😁
Doug Limerick too. I remember him because he was a local news personality in both markets where I live.Gil Gross. I think the show was gone in a few weeks.
I thought it was Dinty Moore, but it has been a while...😉😁Was the chowder vendor/future soup titan named Campbell?
Mike Huckabee started a similar show which didn't last long (not on ABC). It's not likely ABC would have continued the 15-minute midday slat, which was hard for stations to program around.Gil Gross. I think the show was gone in a few weeks.
I never felt comfortable in Salmon ID. Something fishy about that place. On my road trip a couple of weeks ago, I found out KSRA-AM 960 and KSRA-FM 92.7 Salmon ID both run Paul Harvey repeats during the lunch information hour.
Huckabee's show continued until he ran for president and it wouldn't have been ethical for him to do his show while he was a candidate. I think the show ended in 2014 and he sent people to his web site, where for a subscription fee they could continue to hear his commentaries. Supposedly he was paying for his campaign that way. I'm, not accusing him of anything if I'm wrong.Mike Huckabee started a similar show which didn't last long (not on ABC). He eventually got a 3-hour talk show. Continuing while running for President would have gotten his stations afoul of equal time requirements.Huckabee's show continued until he ran for president and it wouldn't have been ethical for him to do his show while he was a candidate. I know about that talk show but it wasn't on the station I listened to.He eventually got a 3-hour talk show. Continuing while running for President would have gotten his stations afoul of equal time requirements.
It was on my local KVOK 560 Kodiak Alaska during 80s and 90s, and was also carried on the Alaskan Forces Radio Network with its' repeaters all over Alaska. I believe it was also on KFQD 750 Anchorage.I believe KSKO McGrath, Alaska may have carried it in the early 80s when the station first launched
