PAUL PERRY BACK IN BOSTON

I believe the word you are all trying to use is milquetoast, as in; Casper Milquetoast, who spoke softly and got hit with a big stick.

Since Paul's former Oldies morning show has been mentioned, maybe we (ok, I) should bring up his old (old, old...) former not-so-great afternoon show at the old (98.5) WROR. He was teamed with a woman named Chris Guetta and it was called "Two For The Road". They had Joe (Martelle) and Andy (Moes) in the morning and Paul and Chris in the afternoons. Obviously, this was years and years ago...maybe 1990?? 91?? "Joe and Andy" disbanded around 91 or 92 with the debut of Mix98.5.

From what I recall (in my opinion), Paul and Chris never really gelled as a team and were on the air separately more than together as they filled in for other people on other shifts. I THINK that Chris Guetta eventually took over that afternoon drivetime shift herself (but I'm probably wrong). I enjoyed listening to her, regardless of what shift she was holding down (including filling in on weekends where she called herself "One-half of Two For The Road" occasionally).

Anyone remember?? Any idea where Chris Guetta is now??

You're right but given where he was (WODS) and who was programminig it at the time (known for programming very conservatively) you shouldn't have expected anything edgy.

That's true, there were a lot more downtempo, slow AC-type ballads from the 70's on WODS then (lots of James Taylor, etc...), and not as much upbeat 60's pop/rock'n'roll, soul oldies and uptempo 70's disco in rotation. The station was sounding like a gold-based soft AC, very sleepy and boring, and the ratings were lower at that time. You should be able to at least tap your foot to an oldies station sometimes. I found I couldn't to WODS back then, because it was so heavy on slow, soft ballad oldies.

Pete Falconi picked up the pace on WODS. Of course, it has to be a very limited playlist for the masses who want to hear just a short list of very familiar hits, but at least he could bring back more uptempo pop/rock'n'roll oldies, soul and disco hits into the mix and generally bring some life back into the station, which helped their ratings somewhat overall, and gave the hosts some energy in the music to play off of.
