Paulson going to K rock? is that true???

If I was in charge at Clear Channel (and I'm obviously not), I think I'd be willing to bet 6 months of Scott Paulsen's pay that Infinity will once again blow it, and even if they put Scott Paulsen on the air, it will be kept such a secret from the listening public that even Scott's biggest fans won't know where he has moved to. I'd keep the money and let Infinity under-promote Paulsen down the same deep, dark hole they've sent all of their other talent down.

If Paulsen has a good agent, he'll negotiate a budget for marketing and promotion as part of the deal, and have Paulsen involved in every marketing aspect of his show.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to the above, I have another question.

Can K-Rock start promoting Paulsen's move now, or is that also partially bound by the noncompete?

As of 10:26AM on December 19th, Paulsen is no longer listed as a jock on DVE's Website and isn't on the K Rock Site yet. He is in DJ Limbo. LOL. Has he been on the air this week at DVE?

Phil was on last night on DVE. When Paulson goes to 93.7, it won't be K ROCK at that time. K ROCK is having the new years eve party at station square until the ball drops at midnight.

So is it confirmed yet that it WON'T be K-Flop anymore?! Are they definitely going to be FREE FM in the New Year?

Are they definitely going to be FREE FM in the New Year?

Why would they pay a fee to use the "Free FM" brand name when that name means nothing in the 'Burgh? It's also been a loser in many markets. If they're going to a non-political talk format, why not forget about paying anyone a franchise fee and simply come up with their own name, like "K-Talk"?

Infinity could market K-Talk and KDKA as twin talkers, one Gen X and the other for Gen Ex-Lax.

...but is it a definite that he is going to Krock?

Oh, God.

Please tell me this means the God Awful Kidd Chris is going and Paulsen is coming, and not that Paulsen is coming and Kidd Chris is staying.

Please tell me you won't give Clear Channel the Rock monopoly in the Burgh.

Yes, that is bound by the non-compete.

Hopefully for CBS Radio and Paulsen's sake, the station isn't too far gone by then...

This is why they hired him. If there's anyone who can resurrect a bluing corpse, it's Paulsen.

So will he replace Chris Kidd, or will he just move in between Kidd and Loveline?

I know that this is a stretch, but hear me out. A few months ago, they took the "talk" out of news/talk on KDKA. It's now "News radio". They fired Steve Hanson and replaced him with a news guy. All the while, KROCK has been going more "talk" instead of music. In another thread, it mentions that McIntyre is out at KD, but I've heard that they really like him. What if after Paulson starts, they go all talk or "FREE-FM" with O & A, Paulson AND McIntyre as their staples.

This won't hurt KD 'cause they go out of the "talk" business...

...I always have felt McIntyre was more rude than insightful, though.

Did that condescending jack-monkey ever get any ratings??

The absolute worst talker I've EVER heard. Worse than Don & Mike, and that's pretty hard...

You're right, I think. Scott can save 'em if there's anything left by then.

(I saw my first "WOW" bumper sticker ever, the other day -- The Virus is taking over ::) )

Scott Paulsen

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the whole world missing what seems to be the obvious? There is much discussion here about the slide of KDKA. Mr. Paulsen seems like a much better fit for KDKA in any daypart than WRKZ. Being a college-educated male in the 12-35 age range, this is one of the few things apart from hell freezing over, that would make me click any radio over to am. The tie-in possibilities with the TV side would be the perfect advertising tool for KDKA radio.
This could be the first step in righting what appears to be a sinking ship...... ;)

Being a college-educated male in the 12-35 age range,

That degree didn't enable you to figure out how to reply in the thread "Paulson going to K rock? is that true???" instead of starting a whole new thread, did it?
