Paulson going to K rock? is that true???

Reposted from CBS RADIO website. Take note some of the announcers, three are already heard on K-rock, so I place bets on the format change here soon.

O&A, Kidd Chris, and who is the third? Maybe I missed it. You really can't count Opie and Anthony separately if thats what you were thinking.

FreeFM seems to be the direction they will go here. I'm not into this, but I guess there are people who can find out what domain names have recently been registered. Maybe someone can check that out. My bet is that a major format change won't occur until Scott Paulson enters in April.

Yep, that's what I meant. Was counting O & A as two. I did some checking on registrations. It seems as CBS uses the www.freq+freefm.com or www.freefm+freq.com, (ex 937freefm.com or freefm937.com) on every one of their free fm stations. The first seems to be in use, the second is not registered as of this moment.

No i think it will change to freefm in april. And i also agree scott paulson will be a good fit.

Also i agree the kidd chris show sucks.

Bob O'Reilly from K-Rock just said on his radio show tonight that this is his last day at K-Rock. Things happening sooner than April?

Just reported on the radio that McIntrye is definately going to KROK

Bad move, imo. Shlould'a went with Bob O'rily as a talker. Ever since going to KD, Mac's percieved as 'old'.

Then it will be called Pretentious Full of Myself Blowhard Rock.

Sorry, too easy ;D

;D Nice! I saw Mac at his most pretentious as a roving reporter at some hoity-toity Pgh socialite function a few years back on TV. Hilariously awkward!

Jeff Schnieder of 1550 Edge reported probably a few months into the new year, maybe coinciding with Scott's debut.

Heard it from one of the higher ups today.

K-Rock officially changes format on April Fools Day.

It will be a talk station. So far, Opie & Anthony, Scott Paulsen, Kidd Chris, and possibly John McIntyre if the money is right, are lined up. All jocks now will either be terminated or used as fill in on remaining CBS stations.

No word yet on calls being changed or if it will actually be deemed a FREE FM station.

Will keep everyone updated.

I wonder why CBS Radio has to keep Kidd Chris? The other lineup sounds good, but there has got to be somebody else out there to replace the Kidd Chris show.

In My Opinion, Scott Paulsen & John McIntyre should give the station good ratings.

Well, this is not a shock at all to hear. I'm guessing this will be a left-leaning station to go against 104.7...could be interesting, and also offer even more challenges to KDKA.

i]I'm guessing this will be a left-leaning station to go against 104.7[/i]

That means you're making a bold prediction that goes against what most other people are suggesting. Most of the predictions I've seen and heard are what I repeated in here. That is that 93.7 will be a non-political talk format, probably a variation of the Free-FM talk format that Infinity owns and uses in other cities.

And, if you read the threads in the News/Talk section of Radio-Info, there are more than a few observations that people who lean to the left politically aren't interested in listening to political talk. I agree with those people. It seems that those who vote conservative prefer to listen to Jim Quinn, while those who vote liberal would prefer to listen to Howard Stern.

I know O&A and Kid Chris are non-political and strictly chatter. Not sure what Scott Paulson's show will be like, but I know that John McIntyre leans way left of center, thats why I said what I did. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I don't doubt that many of the people who'll be on the new 93.7 aren't personally left of center in their personal political alignments. And, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people on 93.7 wouldn't take left-of-center political positions if they were asked to talk politics. But I agree with the people who've suggested that the management of 93.7 will instruct all their on the air people to stay away from politics.

Just backing up my earlier info I posted. This is reposted from the pbrtv.com webpage today.

More FM talk coming - (1/12) - In what is probably the worst-kept secret in Pittsburgh radio, it's more and more apparent that WRKZ-FM (93.7) is going to wind up with some share of news-talk content next year. In a longer story about local radio's battle to compete with web and satellite content, CBS Radio's Keith Clark says the company "has made a real commitment to developing spoken-word formats" and that the revamped 'RKZ will be "a complement" to KDKA (1020), not a competitor. CBS will be trying to take some audience away from Clear Channel's FM NewsTalk WPGB-FM (104.7), which is now tied for sixth place among overall listeners 12-plus. Scott Paulsen is expected to show up on 93.7 in April, and John McIntire is in negotiations with CBS as well. McIntire says on his blog that talks are going "swimmingly." "The new talk FM in the 'Burgh is going to rock," he says. "And I'll be rockin' on it." (Post-Gazette)

There's no such thing as a best-kept secret in Pittsburgh radio. Has there ever been?
