Spring 11 is out for Pensacola and there are a couple of big stories.
Cumulus' Uban Twins, Magic & BLX, take #1-#2 in a market that's 84 percent Caucasian. Considering that both have done well for years now, it's not that big a shock, but still. Maybe a reflection of how the Country, CHR and AC formats have become so splintered with so many stations each taking a bite.
And in Country, Cat whips XBM. This happened once before, didn't it? This time though it might mirror some dissatisfaction with 102.7's loss of Linda Lawrence. Lot of listeners liked her.
And how about 95.7 K-Love? From #13 to #6, fall to spring? Beating the Rocket, ABB, MEZ, COA--and doubling JLQ. A fluke? Not so sure. Could be right format, right market. See Orlando.
The Groove? Tied with two FWB stations and behind WZNS--just ahead of Papa Don. It may still be too early, but it may be safe to say that the new R/CHR didn't make a big splash. Not a good book for any kind of CHR with ABB at #8, JLQ at #13 and RGV at #15. But it might be time for Cumulus to put a fork in i100.7.
