Many of you have been critical of my constant slamming of Michelle Engle, the Program Director at DAVE-FM. You claim that all I do is point out the flaws this woman has as a programmer yet offer nothing constructive. Point taken? In the past I have offered my $.02 on how to improve the station. Now I am ongoing one step further. Today, May 31, 2007, I announce my candidacy for the Program Director's job at 92.9 DAVE-FM. I know for a fact that many people inside Colony Square, headquarters of CBS Radio Atlanta, read my posts (Raoul the fixings guy at Moe's is one and Dr. Poole the dentist is another.) These people have pull and can make this happen for me.
I have many bold initiatives designed to increase listenership, ratings and conversely, ad sales. Here are but a few:
1) A new morning show within my first month as PD.
2) Out: The Cars, Tom Petty and INXS. In: Todd Rundgren, Wilco and Aimee Mann.
3) The station will be known as Radio Atlanta; "Dave" will be retired.
4) The jocks will be forbidden to tease songs with that stupid, "Up next, a guy who used to pick his nose in the third grade, can you guess who it is?"
5) Dave After Tomorrow will return!
Those five moves alone will get the station above a 2.1. Possible even crack the top ten in their two key demos.
After spending many hours listening to DAVE-FM; I know what is wrong with it. I listened to WXRT-FM, Chicago for twenty years; I know how to program 92.9 FM the right way. The real winners will be you the listeners and the advertisers. I am asking for your support. If you know higher-ups at CBS Radio Atlanta, call them to and let them know, ff you deal with salespeople for that station, tell them help is on the way. The Real Other Neil wants to be the PD at the New 92.9 FM, Radio Atlanta.
