Pending Doom For Talk 1200 In Boston

After talking to a friend of mine this morning who also heard Anderson make that mistake last summer on team names, I stand corrected - she referred to the L.A. Angels of Anaheim as the Anaheim Dodgers.......totally uncalled for - check the facts before reporting them !!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that bothers me about many of the national talk shows is how few callers they take. Rush used to be interesting and entertaining when he would take callers on a regular basis. I think the interaction between the host and the callers is what makes talk radio interesting. It's not nearly as interesting when Rush just bloviates for 3 hours. I guess it's difficult for him to do that with his hearing problems. I don't think Beck takes many callers either (though I seldom listen long enough to find out). I don't know about Hannity or Katz. Gawd I miss Jerry Williams...LOL

I'm not sure but I think that Katz also did a show in Hartford (WPOP, during its political talk show days) in afternoon drive time and he sucked back then too.

Yes enter his name and WPOP and you get a clip from an old article, from 93 H. Courant:
>>He is anti-urban and blindly pro-police
(opinion from someone they talked to)

Katz was formerly a police officer in Philly.

Bloviates, perfect word.

Not always...

John Batchelor has one of the very best talk shows on the air, and how many callers does he take?......ZERO!

And...you don't miss the often repetitive callers because the show is jam-packed with interesting guests from wall to wall, a formula used successfully by Joey Reynolds for many years until the WOR network pulled the plug.

Not sure how they do in 25-54s, prob not much better
I've seen the 25-54 numbers for WXKS-AM - as well as the numbers for dayparts (Rush) and 0.1 is the highest I've ever seen them.

Katz has also stated many times on the air that he is not a sports fan and doesn't know a football from a hockey puck......get with the program you fool....what kind of man , especially in this market, would say that publicly......

While we are on this subject, and I know it is a little picky of me, but Katz's intro music is "enter sandman" it's the same song the New York Yankee's closer plays when he enters every game he comes into to close out a win! It is synonomis with the Yankee's and their victories!

I mean, fine I get it he doesn't care about sports that's cool, but no one over there ever mentioned that his intro music is like finger nails down a chalk board to half of Boston?

Again, I know most probably don't notice or care, but for the effort he puts in trying to be a "local" guy he could stand to do a little more home work on his "home town......."

Steve Malzberg on WOR Radio Network goes by similar guidelines - in fact, he likes to promote the fact that his entire Friday program is "guest-free Friday"!

There are some hosts who seem to talk most of the time and hardly take calls; when Tammy Bruce had her own show that was the case and I wondered if it was just her policy or was there just a dearth of people calling in?

I guess the weekend 1200 AM automatons really liked Thursday's weather forecast because they've been running the damn thing for 4 days. So far.

It was the same way when they were progressive talk. They even used to repeat the news and traffic reports from earlier in the week on the weekend "best of" shows. I remember once they were talking about a massive jam-up at Rte 3 and 128 in Burlington while I was going through there on a Saturday morning with hardly any traffic on either road. Then I remembered that the traffic jam had been the previous Wednesday...LOL.

I caught it on George Noory's overnight show this morning (Monday 4/4). I thought they had tightened up on snafus like that when they brought in the new people (whazzername? Paula O'Connor? and a guy who used to work at WTKK). Maybe the word is that it's all about to be over and they've stopped trying.

Hank Morse used to record a news broadcast for AM 1430. One day the computer fouled up and we ran the news from the day before. Although we used to get calls all the time about the music we didn't get one call about the old news.

I suggested that since we were playing music from the 40's and 50's why not run some news broadcast from those days. This just into to the Am 1430 newsroom Japan surrenders.

Yes that's Paula O'Connor running the show and the former TKK guy is Eric Coldwell......just a heads up for listeners to the worst AM drive show in the state....The Jeff Katz Show.....I have been working in the area near the Talk 1200 studios and the hardest worker in talk radio - Katz - is out the door right at 10:00 am.....nothing like working on your show for the next day !!!!!!!!

He might work from home. I've seen Facebook posts from him and his show's page during the day.

the hero that is JEFF KATZ..likes to blow steam about how he is on his Facebook page updating stuff for the show etc. at 1:00 am -

how about getting a life and sleeping to a reasonable hour ???? no wonder why he leaves right at 10:00 am , he is about to fall asleep at 9:45 am....

just for the record - Katz was in his car by 9:59 this morning..........

they should fire Katz and make Jay Severin their new morning man......remember Paula O'Connor and Eric Coldwell were with Jay at WTKK.............

that would give them some ratings.......
