Not that weekend news or weekend programming is any big deal--other stations pretty much go low budget, informercials, carrying sports the sister station can't, etc.
5 smiley faces in a row... well I don't know if Katz will be there one more month or two more years but I'd think the latter is more likely. (Now we have to wonder if Howie winds up on 96.9, 1200, or back at
RKO. If the latter gives him the best offer he may have to swallow his pride and shake Hokey Wolfe's
hand--er, paw? on a new deal.)
Outsourcing daily newscasts--who do they think they are, WRKO?
Maybe they make a bit of money on the FMs and that helps to subsidize it.
I don't know if I'm being so protective of a failing radio station--and hey, times are hard so you only had four emoticons this time

Given the choice between taxpayer funded NPR and the lineup on 1200 I would prob prefer the latter, though. And btw since we've been talking late night--Stein on 96.9,
Red Eye on RKO, and even Leveille on WBZ don't forget 1200 has Coast to Coast, a big fave
nationwide.
If not for the fact that Howie might be able to jump there late next year, plus E&B and Graham
have contracts till '13, I'd think TKK might consider dumping its format, though admittedly it is, yes, doing much better in ratings than 1200 (or RKO), though certainly not what they'd expect.
If you look at the WTKK facebook page there are a lot of unhappy customers now that Jay is gone. Will they forever turn away from 96.9 now? (or at least till Howie gets there?)
(More talk, less emoticons with Raccoonradio

)
