Try http://www.amlogbook.com/freq.htm or radio-locator.com the second URL has formats, also 'google' or 'yahoo' search terms like "1310, NewsTalk, KK, KL, KT" ...let us know what you find. What works for me is a MP3/WAV recorder or use a good old cassette recorder. Often after playing the recording of the station I'm trying to ID several times, and adjusting the tone to help the recording sound clearer, I can figure out what it is. Maybe KLIX, ID; KTCK, TX is a sports station so it probably isn't that, nor would it be KKNS, NM, their format is Spanish Oldies.

ok, will dew, it was a newscast from fox news then a local forecast with bitter cold lows!! then faded, sounded like utah or someplace cold but wow, that's quite a hop if it is!

The lows in the 20s could have been Canada. 20C = 68F. Still a nice hop if that's the case.

Fox News Radio does not appear to have any affiliates in Canada, at least not on their website, www.foxnewsradio.com/ Possibly it was a U.S. station whose coverage is on both sides of the border.

Perhaps you were getting the station on 1310 before its pattern change. Out west, it is more likely the station is omnidirectional in the daytime. A good station to try to catch is KMTI 650 Manti, Utah - they are 10kW NDD. I have heard them a few times before their pattern change, which would be about an hour or so before my local sunset (central time) The fcc.gov website has a search page for AM, FM and TV stations. For AM stations there is a link to the monthly Approximate Sunrise/Sunset Times. That is the time a daytime only station signs off or a 24-hr. station is supposed to change to its nighttime power/antenna pattern (with some exceptions which are relatively few; for example WCKY stays on daytime omnidirectional until KFBK Sacramento sunset) That has helped me on what time frame to look for DX targets. In the fall, winter and spring there is less daylight, and that increases the opportunity for long distance reception.

I also wanted to mention that there is KNOX 1310 Grand Forks, ND whose primary coverage does not quite reach Manitoba, Canada and is not a Fox News affiliate (however, that list could be out of date) KNOX is omnidirectional before sunset, and I have heard them in No. IL. No 1310 in Utah, in Idaho Yes.

No, it began with a K, so no C temps, it was prob the ND station, as i remember the highs were 60's (burrrrr)
