And of course, Carl Harper--but by the time of the show he had already passed away.
Funny..I was going to mention that one but I seem to remember at least one "flashback" episode where Ken Berry had played the role of Carl Harper for a few minutes but I am not sure sure if this was during the NBC or syndicated years. Need to go into the closet and find those Mama dvds.![]()

I could be wrong, but weren't Horshack's parents on once? We did get to hear all the excuse notes from Epstein's mother, though. We also never saw any of Gabe's relatives..."Hey Julie, did I ever tell you about my uncle Herschel?"
AHA!!! Sybil Gooley!!! ;D NIGHTFLY is darn proud of himself! ;DCan't think of it now, but Edith Bunker often spoke of one of her friends.
...similar name to one that frequently popped up on The Bickersons on both radio and TV, Gladys Goolsby. Blanche was constantly accusing John of having a thing for Gladys. We never saw or heard Gladys, either...nightfly61 said:AHA!!! Sybil Gooley!!! ;D NIGHTFLY is darn proud of himself! ;DCan't think of it now, but Edith Bunker often spoke of one of her friends.

...was just about to correct myself on this one -- couldn't find my Bickersons tapes until just an hour ago. Thanx...cd637299 said:Name was actually Gloria Gooseby (sp?)...I've listened to a few...."Now don't get started on Gloria Gooseby!!"Ultimajock said:...similar name to one that frequently popped up on The Bickersons on both radio and TV, Gladys Goolsby. ...my father said for years that Don Ameche had to be the greatest actor alive, since he couldn't fathom any other way that Ameche could possibly be that frustrated with Frances Langford for that long ;D ...drt said:btw- Frances Langford was Florida born and raised and lived in Jensen Beach, adjacent to Stuart, the last few decades of her life and was active in charity work and traveling up until about 2 weeks before her death on 11 July 2005.
He probably had another family in a neighboring town.SfanGoch said:Larry Mondello's father was never seen, either. He was always "out of town" on business.
I believe the Bickersons were mainly played by Don Ameche and Frances Langford. Ameche was usually cast as the romantic lead, but was priceless as a comic, as in his role in the movie Cocoon. Langford was primarily an amazing singer. I can't think of her in another comic role. Both were great in these roles.Ultimajock said:...similar name to one that frequently popped up on The Bickersons on both radio and TV, Gladys Goolsby. ...on the radio version, Danny Thomas also appeared as Blanche's brother, Amos (which was, of course, Thomas' original first name in real life). And both Ameche and Langford had comic roots in radio, as cast members of The Chase & Sanborn Hour with Edgar Bergen (Ameche), Rudy Vallee's Royal Gelatin Hour and The Pepsodent Show starring Bob Hope (the latter two for Langford). In fact, as I recall, The Bickersons first appeared as a sketch on Chase & Sanborn...KyDXIn said:I believe the Bickersons were mainly played by Don Ameche and Frances Langford.
