PGA to merge with Saudi-backed LIV Golf

Which is why teams build what they call practice facilities in suburban areas, and leave the rinks open for high schools and groups to use. They partner with city parks departments to oversee the scheduling.

The same thing could be done with golf. Community golf courses owned by the city or county instead of country clubs. This is done in some areas, but it requires taxpayer money.
City’s will lease out owned golf courses to offset the maintenance costs.

In the Coachella Valley there are approximately 120 golf courses. Some are private, member only. Some are private but also sell tee times to the public. Others are public, owned by the individual cities in the valley.

A lot of "country clubs" do sell access, even if they are listed as "private".

The biggest issue is the cost. Where I live we overlook a course; there is daily maintenance in the hour after "first light" where greens are all inspected and any needed trimming is done. And that is 7 days a week, except for Christmas and a couple of other holidays.

Rory McIlroy says he would retire rather than play for LIV Golf:

It sounds as though the players are opposed to this merger. If this continues, you may see them start their own league.
Many are opposed. They were forced into with being consulted. They have a right to be pissed. The PGA looks hypocritical for caving in...

Three separate groups all running their own mutually exclusive tours? Golf would be on its way to turning into boxing, with its multiple "alphabet soup" sanctioning bodies, all with their own champions and contenders.
