I would rather listen to Hendrie over John and Jeff any day. They just seem so bland -- almost like a talk radio show you would hear in the background of a "Touched By An Angel" scene.

That's a good question considering that he just cut back on the food and computer talk-shows on the weekends.
I think Phil is pulling one over on the KFI audience in Los Angeles. Anyone heard the new host called "Sean Rima" on KFI Sunday afternoons at 3-5pm? He just finished filling in for the vacationing John&Ken Show the week of July 2nd-6th. I swear this guy is Phil Hendrie, using a new "talk radio host" character voice.
When I first heard this guy, something seemed strangely familiar, like a character from one of Phill's skits, then after listening to him for a while, it seemed that the "talk-radio-voice" faded out and all of Phil's mannerisms and wit were evident. Then, after a station break, he started back in with the heavy dose of the "talk radio host voice". He frequently used phrases that are typical for Phil to say, along with the kind of rapid-fire wit that Phil is known for.
Don't take my word for it, listen to the guy for a while. He's replacing Dale Dye's show on Sundays from 3-5pm on KFI in Los Angeles.
I fired-off emails to various hosts on KFI, asking if Sean is really Phil in disguise. Not surprisingly, there were no replies except for a somewhat ambiguous reply from 7-10pm host John Ziegler, who denied it, claiming that Sean Rima isn't nearly as talented as Hendrie. (Why would he diss an alleged co-worker and complement someone who is on a competing radio network?)
A quick Google search on Sean Rima doesn't bring up much of anything except a reference on Denver's KOA radio site where Rima is alleged to originate from. All you'll see on KOA's site is an obscure high school photo of someone that's supposed to be Rima. Rima's bio on the KFI site is pure nonsense along with a picture of somene that cannot be identified. Other than that, the guy does not exist on the web - a fictional character created by Phil, just like Ted Bell, etc.
Please take a listen to this guy and let me know what you folks think, I'm 90% sure it's Phil slightly modifying his voice. He's done this sort of thing before back in the '90's when he hosted a show on KFI for 3 days in a row with a middle-eastern accent, claiming to be an Egyptian DJ. He then went on full time at KFI with the Phil Hendrie show we all came to know.

Rima is on while I'm anchoring the news on Sunday, so I get to hear him up close. I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound like Hendrie to me.

Archervox - I could be wrong too, but Phil is a master of desguising his voice. What I was taking notice of were his mannerisms, delivery style, etc. I've heard Hendrie and his cast of characters so often that I recognize some of this stuff - such as his tendency to use the phrase "JEEE-sus!" at the high-watermarks of some of his satire. What I also note about the Rima character is the tendency for his cliche' modulated "Talk radio voice" to fade out over time, only to come back strong at the return of a station break.
Still, it's possible that Rima is just a guy that came out of nowhere except for a brief stint in Denver, and simply has certain mannerisms that are similar to Hendrie's. If this is true, then Rima has unintentionally pulled one over on me the same way Phil Hendrie did to much of his audience on a daily basis.

Well, after listening to some of Sean Rima's audio clips that are still available on Denver's KOA Radio site (www.850koa.com), I'm less convinced that Rima is Hendrie in disguise. The streaming audio is much cleaner than what I've been hearing on my radio with the KFI broadcasts. Mannerisms and delivery style are similar, but his voice sounds less Hendrie-esque over streaming audio.
