Phil Hendrie out at KTAR?

What the hell is happening with the slobbering morons at KTAR? They took off Phil Hendrie for Dave Ramsey? Sure, Hendrie broke the all simpletons all the time format over at KTAR but it was only for a few hours when nobody was really listening. If Hendrie's really gone, this brings the number of programs on that station that I can actually stomach to ZERO.

There goes the most entertaining show on the radio here. I couldn't believe what I was listening to last night. Was it an infomercial? Was it KFNN? Absolutely not-- we get to hear people who don't know how to handle their money whine for now on. At least it'll help me fall asleep as opposed to the opposite from Hendrie's show. And now I have finally gotten to hear him next time I see all of the billion Dave Ramsey ads in Radio Ink.

This was posted last night. You can find a link to a Phil Hendrie related All Access story on it. Interesting enough, this happens five days after Hendrie decides to bring back to full cast of characters.

Frankly, I am beside myself as I struggle to grasp why the Master Blogger would dump Hendrie for Ramsey. This is beyond comprehension!

Thankfully I can still get quality entertainment via Pandora on my iPhone.

Evening ratings, perhaps. And you could argue a Dave Ramsey type show in this economy may appeal to people. I don't hear how it could draw more than Hendrie's show, personally, but that's just me.

Would have been nice to see Jim Bohannon moved 10pm-1am if Hendrie's a definite "NO."

PS - Pandora isn't radio. :)

Pandora isn't radio, true. But radio isn't what radio used to be either. *wink*

I'm just glad I got to work in the business when it was fun.

I hate to see Hendrie go, but his show really ended for me a few years ago when he relaunched as a mainstream talk show.

However, a real opportunity presents itself here. How about running "The Best of Michael Dixon Presents?" It would be SUPER-AWESOME to replay all the great travel deals, financial tips and medical advice that we missed during the weekend.

Looks like I will be listening to George Noorie @10pm on KFYI.

Phil Hendrie is vulgar. He used to be kind of funny. Now he's just vulgar and partisan.

Repetition is always key when trying to make your point. Perhaps if you post this a third time, everyone might really believe you that Hendrie is partisan and vulgar. Your use of the back-handed compliment is also a wonderful rhetorical tool. Well done!

I think he's going back to his old ways. Where I live, there isn't one but two Phil Hendrie affiliates, one which airs on tape-delay and the other live, and I keep hearing promos for the show which mention the return of Bobbie Dooley, Bud Dickman and the rest of the gang.

I'm sorry if I posted twice. I wasn't trying to be repetitive. I was trying to edit my first post and ended up making a second post. I tried to delete the second post and could not find any delete button. I do not believe I made a back-handed compliment. He really used to be kind of funny. Now, I think he is gross. You really didn't need to be so sarcastic. This is the first time I've ever posted on this board and I wasn't used to its mechanics.

I have an idea. Why not dump the stupidity that is Mac and Gaydos during drive time, bring back Arizona's Afternoon News and then, to satisfy the thousands of Gaydos peeps, move Gaydos back to his comfort zone of doing late-night talk. He could then roll ten to midnight, ten to midnight, ten to midnight!

Like KFYI, KTAR continues to lose its connection to the local community and Arizona. They either cut costs with syndicated programming piped in from outside of our state or they fill local shows with full time hosts that are neither significant in local stature nor committed to the market. What happened to our hometown station? Their morning show is a faceless and repetitive news wheel, followed by a host that has no heritage or general concern for Phoenix, another syndicated show with Glen Beck, a sophomoric and contrived afternoon show that insults the listeners intelligence, and then more syndicated programming at night. KTAR is now a joke.

But meanwhile, over on the AM side, KTAR's local commitment is so strong that they won't carry ESPN sports play-by-play, including the MLB playoffs and (presumably) World Series, during Gambo & Ash's timeslot, let alone a Suns or ASU game (which is understandable).

Local trumps network on 620, with the opposite on 92.3 apparently.

maybe they are getting us ready for full time colon-blow commercials. Or Purity Products.....beta prostrate......

Glad I invested in an internet radio.

Sarcasm is key to working in radio and even more so when discussing the business. *grin*

I am pissed off.

Dave Freaking Ramsey? "Hi Dave, I read scripture last night and realized that if I switch to generic cigarettes, I could save enough money to go to the Toby Keith concert!"

Who the hell, outside of a few hillbillies listens to Dave Ramsey?

Jeezus H Christ....I swear, the idiots running talk radio in this town are driving me to buy an internet radio. First KKNT replaces Dennis Miller with the nasal screamer Mark Levin, now we have son of Deliverance giving financial tips for White Trash. Hey Master Blogger (who never blogs) what the hell kind of audience are you aiming at? The truly stupid are already listening to Coast To Coast, the carnival folk that listen to Dave Ramsey can't figure out how to get FM on their radio.

LAME

Great comments on the Ramsey show Legend City, that's exactly what the few minutes I heard sounded like. I'm not kidding, I'd rather listen to Bruce Williams. He does financial talk and is hilarious when he doesn't have any calls and fills by talking about his dog Pistol, some of the cruises he's taken over the years, his passion for magic tricks, his days on the college debate team, anything. It's great. But I guess the insult to injury in them yanking off Hendrie is how it happened just as he's dropping the hot talk and going back to comedy full time.
