Goyette is up against fellow liberal talker (and KXXT alumnus) Mike Newcomb, now heard on 1480 KPHX. KPHX is an LMA financed through a "Save Air America" fund raising campaign plus an infusion of cash from the Drobnys. Newcomb did evenings on KXXT. Newcomb's program on KPHX airs in place of Jerry Springer. The station otherwise takes the AAR network feed with the addition of Peter B. Collins in overnights. However, the station website announces KPHX is adding Thom Hartmann (details forthcoming - they already take Best of Hartmann on the AAR network feed on weekends) and Mark Maron'a late night program.Goyette, meanwhile, may be a fish out of water on 1100 KFNX, with a hodge-podge and apparently largely brokered schedule the rest of the day. The station also airs Michael Savage in late PM drive. Otherwise the line-up is mostly a mixed bag of financial and health advice extended infomercials in a line-up that says "bottom-feeder." Goyette is a talented broadcaster and a true class act and he deserves better. It is unfortunate for everyone concerned - most especially the audience - that "Doctor Newcomb" did not see fit to find a place for Goyette on KPHX. Part of me welcomes another market with a choice for progressive talk listeners; part of me hopes Goyette kicks Newcomb's butt. Despite being hobbled with an incompatible line-up on KFNX the rest of the day, Goyette has a signal with better coverage of the Phoenix metro. And he is the better know radio name in the market.Listen and Judge for Yourself Starting Monday:Charles Goyette (9 am - 12 pm EDT):mms://64.156.2.22:443/kfnx/24Mike Newcomb (9am - 12 pm EDT):mms://wm3.spacialnet.com/novamradio55700Goyette Returning To KFNX/PhoenixVeteran PHOENIX talker CHARLES GOYETTE, displaced when KXXT-A dropped its liberal talk lineup in favor of Religion, has found a new home, and it's one of his previous homes, Talk KFNX-A. GOYETTE, who has worked at KTAR-A and KFYI-A in the PHOENIX market, will take over mornings at the station effective JUNE 19, bumping incumbent morning host JOHN DAYL to SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS 8-10p.
