Phoenix Radio Ratings: August 2023

Is 106.3 even still on the air? I get dead air on that freq!
106.3 is still on the air, with Spanish language music.

Speaking of Spanish language stations, what happened to KLNZ? I don't listen except when flipping around, but I've noticed some kind of static in the background. Do they even have a staff engineer? Could that be the reason for its low ratings lately?

KOAI is mentioned in this article, pointing out their great "success:"

What the article doesn't say is if they're making any money. Yes, we know there are a lot of boomers. That's how they got their name. Yes we know they're sitting on retirement income. But we also know they hate commercials and hate being sold anything. So they are averse to any kind of advertising.

Boom Radio in Englahd also gets the same sort of press, both mainstream and industry. Its audience is impressive and engaged, all the stories report, yet none ever mention how much the advertisers on this commercial station are paying to reach a demographically undesirable audience.

The wrong person to talk to is John Sebastian:

All you have to do is watch network television at night. All those advertisers are basically 55+ and 65+,”

Yes we know. What are those ads selling? Pepsi? Pimple cream? Or "A Place For Mom?" Fundraising for ASPCA.

Listen to KOAI and tell me what ads are you hearing. Over the air, not in the stream.
