Pictures Of The 87.9 The Wave Studio!!!

That pirate station has better studio equipment than my college station! I can't wait for the feds to seize all that equipment.

too bad competing stations dont cut coax, like they do in the golden era of London pirates..

cuz i bet these foos can just plug in expensive gear and cant SOLDER or repair a broken TRANSISTOR..

Before you guys post anymore hate remember that pirates like the famous station (Radio Caroline) were the first to bring rock music to the world. Before pirates there were basically just stations with a MOR format. In my opinion (don't yell at me for this) as long as the stations are NOT causing interference they should be left alone. If they are causing interference thats another story. Pirate radio exists for the most part to fill a niche in a small community or to bring back what has been taken away from cooperate radio years ago. Trust me who wants to hear the same 10 songs again and again. 87.9 the wave sounds like what radio used to be when it was all about the music not all about the money.Come on guys at least one person has to agree with me.

Come to Newark, NJ, not only you hear the same 10 songs again and again, you hear the same FORMAT on 20 different pirate stations.

Pirate stations are the future of radio .

Well maybe smaller lower powered community licensed stations. One of the problems with the big ones is try to buy a commercial on one if you are a small business. Radio groups aren't interested in small business at all.

They don't raid unless you really bust their chops. The FCC has no money

They repaired a pair of fried finals on the transmitter. You have to know what you are doing working on those boards.

Must be tough getting a channel in Newark. I will have to give a listen when I'm up that way.

87.9 The Wave is different then any other pirate or licensed radio station I have ever heard. I never hear any repeats and they even play songs that today's commercial radio stations would never play. I say he's doing a wonderful job and I wish them luck and hope they're around for along time.

So, if you hav a favorite song....you're probably not going to hear it played too much?

Sure! Why not!

They don't have to worry about ratings, they don't have to worry about playing songs no one likes. Who cares if they play a stiff record and their audience dips by 90%.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all play radio by those rules without any consequences.

The only responsibility is to their own ego.

YOu can Don buy a transmitter! I haven't seen one of these stations suffer any consequences. Some of them are running over a KW. Where is the FCC?

Pirate radio is (hopefully) not the future. Pirate radio actually has less variety and format diversity as far as formats go, 95% are Carribean/Reggae or among the lines of Urban.

The FCC simply needs to get serious.

You guys are making it sound like legitimate commercial radio is the bad guy, they have income, cumes, FCC rules, and ratings to worry about! These pirates have nothing to worry about but the FCC shutting shop.

I don't think "Pirate" radio is the future. But I do think the breaking up of the corporate monopoly on radio is.

its seeming theyll just lose interest and go away. anyone under ~35 uses an ipod/phone to listen to music and doesnt have a radio. anyone else commuting switched to siriusXM. and ballgames? theres the ubiquitous television presence for that..
