Pirate on 106.5

Today on the way into work I heard a pirate on 106.5 playing a Reggaeton sounding format. Strong signal, heard it from Lancaster and City Ave. all the way to where I work in central Delaware County. No IDs and no DJs from what I heard.
Edited by Jarvis on 07/20/05 01:29 PM.

Re: Pirate on 106.5/97.7

That 106.5 pirate has been on for a few years now, it usually plays Heavy Jamacian Rap, it is very clear in South Philly, especially around the Melrose diner area. I have even picked it up around 24th and Oregon Avenues in the new shopping center. While we are on the subject of pirates, how can that Rap pirate owned by Mister Stone still be allowed to operate on 97.7, they have their own website and operate with a great stereo signal and clarity, and have been on for years.

What's the website address??

Re: Pirate on 106.5/97.7

Don't remember it off hand, but they do repeat it quite often, they also have a few phone numbers, if you tune them in you have to hear it many times. I will try and listen and get it...

Why doesn't the FCC shut 'em down!

The pirate stations in Philly have been operating for years. There was a pirate on 92.9 in South Philly that played uncensored rap, and it was on for years. There used to be a very powerful pirate on 95.3 that played Spanish music and could be heard clearly 30 miles away. It was on the air for months before the FCC shut them down, which was long enough to have an impact on WEMG-AM.

Even New York City has several pirates that haven't been busted for years.
______________

I read somewhere that last August they applied for an LP license for 97.7. Anyone know if it went through?
______________

FCC is too busy making sure Howard Stern doesn't takl about poop or vagina. It's much more profitable than shutting down pirate stations.
