Platnum 96.7

I saw in Alan Peppard's column in The Dallas Longhorn News that Wendi, formerly from Y-95, way back in the day's of the Reagan presidency was one of the on-air staff. Oh how I lusted after her from that Miller Beer poster she made.........wonder what she looks like these days?

Jeff, I'm with you. I STILL miss The Oasis and I am NOT impressed with this new station, at all.

B O R I N G !!

Heh I'll probably get slammed for this... But that wasn't exactly my favorite Wendi poster. :) As far as what she looks like now? Maybe they'll put a current photo on their website...

Jeeez!

A few of you need to get a reality check!

Look, the whole launch of this station was delayed, and it probably got to the point where they had to go ahead and kick it off, even if it wasn't totally ready. When push comes to shove, you know? Give this thing some time to iron out. Aside from the flip execution, I have enjoyed the station when I have listened. Give it a week or two before you throw the stones.

I'll give 96.7 a listen when the HD signal is good enough to not drop in and out. That applys to bothe signals 1 and 2. It's bad overnight.

But there's only so much "Mama's & The Papas" kind of music I can tolerate anyways....

"Get Your Office Set to 96.7".....

See.... It's "OFFICE" Music......

But really, ther are many companies that provide their telephone sales force with XM. And so every day, there's oppourtunites for wide varities ofmusic, but without --any--commercials.

THAT'S OFFICE MUSIC for some.

I know I have heard the girl who does traffic's voice. Anyone know from where?
Her name is Denise. She does traffic for 97.5 KLAK in the afternoons and is on Sundays from 6am to 10am on KLAK as well. She's got a great voice. By the way, a little FYI. 967thetwister.com now re-routes you to kscs.com. But I don't think anyone cares.

That is who I thought she was! She and the afternoon host on KLAK have one of the best shows I have heard in years. I actually met her when I was visiting with sales at Traffic. She is drop dead gorgeous and very sweet. Thanks for the info.

As for Platinum. Seems like the stations that go "oldies" start off strong, then become nothing more than a carbon copy of KLUV. I like Platinum now. Let's just hope they can keep it together.

I nearly drove off the road this morning... I switched over to 96.7 for a minute to see what was going on and at first I thought this was a joke but as it turns out Larry Dixon went in to a commercial break and it was for Smith & Nephew hip and knee joint replacement. :D

Well hey.... an advertiser is an advertiser, no? ;D

Yes that is Denise and she is an absolutely a star at traffic.com, never worked with better, great traffic reporter and personality for days, no way I could do it without her "playing along". She is awesome! Thank you so much for your kind words, best in years may be a HUGE stretch, but I and (I know she will share sentiment) really appreciate the vote of confidence we're trying hard up here in Collin County. Thank you again.

Scott K, Afternoons, 97.5 KLAK.

14:59 -- Time is almost up, I see. All the pre-hype flip interest, and "now that we know what it is and more importantly what it isn't" it's time to move on.

This flip, it's stunting and the final product represent the worst that radio has become. It sickens me.

There was more than one Wendi poster? Got any way to post it? She was so hot back in the day.

Wow, where to start...

Denise at KLAK is all my fault...her brother and I have been close friends for nearly 20 years. I steered her over to Traffic.com when she was getting fed up with her old desk job, and wanted to use her acting background for something productive--and viola! A great match for radio!!

Vic Thomas was also the overnight voice for Memories 96.7, that was voicetracked while he pulled a regular shift at the ABCRN's syndie format of "Memories."

I read on KMac's Dallas Digest that Jody Dean and company are on vacation this week...now that might have played a factor in holding off the Platinum debut until this week. Getting Ron the opening interview on GMT might have been a problem a week earlier as well...who knows?

The volume level on Platinum does seem lower than other stations. However, the crisp clarity and lack of compression on those 1960s 'stereophonic' songs is awesome!! Of course, after listening to 1360AM constantly for the last 5 weeks, it's nice to hear something in stereo again.

To me, the format's more of a Memories-meets-Stardust. It's really not bad, but sure, a little slow for me to listen continuously...but lots of gems in there, and quite a few "ahhhh" songs for me that I'd never hear anywhere else. We could perhaps guess that if the first few books don't show much growth, they'll turn to Page Two of the 'Ron Chapman How-To-Do-Radio Manual' and replace some of the slower tunes with peppier, mainstream pop oldies. I'm already hearing more peppier stuff in the evenings ("Treat Her Like a Lady" comes to mind from tonight.)

Yeah Mike I agree about the songs-in-stereo viewpoint. I commend all you guys who pulled off that programming, but I just couldn't take much of hearing my favorite 1980s hits in muddy bloody mono.  :) It'd be way cool if y'all could have done this on an FM station! 8)

Oooops, I probably should have used the word "picture". I don't really know if there was more than one poster, sorry.

Many may not care for the music or imaging, but I'll bet it will do well over time. I also don't think this station will take many listeners from KAAM or KLUV as their playlists are quite different.

Still The One by Orleans is way out of place for that format.

I am a big fan of this format and I hope it is a success. You should see the comments these types of songs generate on Youtube...

"Music like this could only be made in an age of belief and not of fear and cynicism"

"We have lost beauty, yearning, and wistfullness in music"

"Today's lyrics are cynical, jaded, and are full of pessimism"

These type of comments capture the appeal of this format. It's an escape to a sweeter, less cynical era.

Watergate, the Vietnam War, the Carter years (hostages, stagflation, pessimissim), Roe v Wade, ERA amendment ... that's "a sweeter, less cynical era"?

Lisa G...better look at those songs again listed here...70% is what KLUV plays. KLUV will be hurt in mornings/middays and some in afternoons.

That's one of Ron's favorites. Can't wait to hear Rita Coolidge/Were all alone...John Paul Young/Love is in the Air....Chris Rea/Fool if you think it's over...England Dan-John Ford Coley...more of Ralph's favorites :D
