Hi Everyone-
I was wondering if you had ANY REAL TIPS on how to Look for a new radio job, while you still are working at a station.

I realize how small this world is, and there is a (small) chance my PD could know the PD that I am applying too. Can you get fired if your PD finds out? How have people successfully done this in the past??

I am currently under a crap contract for a year, (on a station that I feel may not be around much longer) and want to apply to a station owned by another company (other than the one I am contracted under)

I am still young, and have been in my spot for 2 years, but never moved around. Your expert and experienced advice would really help me :p

Honestly, count your blessings you have a job! There are way too many talented people right now, that are unemployed, that deserve a gig. I really cant say anything else, and Im sure some others in here will feel the same way. Just stick it out.

You should look at the terms of your contract. You may not be at liberty to pursue other employment and could expose yourself and any potential employers to litigation. Good luck!

I know there are a ton of talented people who don't have jobs right now, and I do feel bad for that.... but the terms of my contract resemble that of a Indentured Servant from the 1700's.

Read your contract and talk to a lawyer that understands it and can explain it to you. Yes there are many talented people out of work. That doesn't mean you have to be a servant or not grow. Explore your options. This is a small business and everybody knows everybody so be aware of that. Don't keep yourself in a rut because lots of good people are out of work. You are young and should explore.

Definitely get an attorney to look over your contract.
