Poll On Date For Next Lunch At Cap's?

September 20th works for me... 5 days after my 24th wedding anniversary and 5 days before my birthday!

Is the Auburn away game day or night? If it's day that might keep some attendees away. But I'm ok with that date. We're just going to have to pick a date and live with it.

Clingman's Dome is a great and beautiful place. I've never seen it with snow but we encountered winter-type mountain fog on that long and winding road drive up to the 1-mile hiking trail at the top, and when we got out of the car up there the temperature was like in the 40's (in August!). The hike *up* to the dome from the parking lot is on a nice little upward angle that calls for a breath stop sitting on a boulder every 20 feet or so for old men like us. Coming down is a breeze though.

I particularly love all the spruces and firs we know as "Christmas trees" all over the place up there.

We visit New England every Mardi Gras to play in the snow but I'm going to have to see snow in the Smokys one year soon!

OK

Hey Don, I know you've been to Clingman's Dome. It's the highest point in the Smokey Mountain National Park, and I always fantasized what a great place that would be to set up a site for the annual ham radio field day!

Sept 20th would be bee-you-ta-muss for my aging ba-donk-a-donk. Long enough after my highschool 50th reunion, both, for me to have recovered from all the classmates' abuse, and to have paid most of my gas-card bills. Plus, I'll still have enough tan left, that when I drive down Cap's neighborhood property values by reading, topless, out front pre-confab ... my bondsman can have something to use in pre-bargain with Slud-hall Po-leeses, dem.
Soxless.

Never have made up to Clingman, but you're right about that being a great ham radio location!
