Pollard and Sommers under the same roof

Thank you for thinking of me decently. You guys should really think through the coordination of efforts on the board though. It's very see through. New threads with the same goal of ego building, getting Yoda involved good guy), RBT putting the train wreck and Shady as the best......my response to that is a recent screen name, OMG LOL! But it is entertaining and should get things rolling again on the web so please, continue! Just remember that before Sgt. Pepper was the Yellow Submarine. Follow?

"To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant."

I thought is was, " To be ignorant of ones ignorance was the malady of the arrogant"? But the reference to the Beetles was that Magical Mystery Tour is referenced in Pepper and since there's a seeming movement back to the old way of Styles before Don became involved they are going from Pepper to the Submarine. Maybe David can keep it from sinking.

If anybody can keep it from sinking, David can. David Sommers = ratings and overall freaking slick sounding radio station.

If I may give a brief history lesson of performing well on both sides (page 1 of this thread), Amie is not alone as you indicate. One of the best performers in sales that has ever been in the market started on the air at KMX and moved to sales. His air name was Ready Freddy. Speaking of threatened, he became part of the Styles/Magic Team but was eventually shown the door when moved to the 8th floor. Fire the best.....that does show confidence! Hope David isn't walking into the same trap.

Yeah Freddy Grace was the mackdaddy. I would put Amie in the same category, though. Both of them know the difference between just doing the bare minimum and developing lasting relationships with clients that produces years of revenue for the radio station.

Janie Bush, in my opinion, is the greatest seller that the Dothan market has ever had.

Janie is very good but I disagree with her being as good as Fred, but very close. Either can out sell entire clusters by themselves. Amie is no where close, pretty decent but not in that ballpark. Boy you really are star struck.

Nah, I've just known the Dothan market for a LOOOOOONG time, and my posts are based on firsthand experience with the people discussed, not on talking heads from a web forum.

I wouldn't call it jealousy, headlandradio, but I think that many are threatened by Amie's success in both sales and programming.

NOBODYS THREATENED! I mean it may be hard for u to believe but alot of people just flat out DO NOT LIKE HER! It really is that simple.

That's cool. We're all adults. We can co-exist. Some of the people that don't like Amie are, in my opinion, great radio people, so it's all good. I was just sharing my thoughts, based on personal experience with Amie.

To each their own!

Anyway the question I have who's getting the boot ??? Lizzy or Wild Bill? I don't know anything at all about Wild Bill so this is not to insult him, BUT..surely they will keep Elizabeth..I hope so anyway. Or if they are willing to spend the money (YEAH RIGHT ::) they could put Elizabeth back at nights & Wild Bill overnights. 24 hr radio just like back in the day ;D

Thanks for the cookie omylol! BTW, sorry, I had you placed about 14 ft higher than I should've. Sincerest apologies. Here comes some absolutely pure speculation that I hope is very wrong. What if David were to soon move from the last day shift to the first, might that be the Queens' plan? I sure hope not and have been wrong on these boards previously and hope this speculation is also incorrect. Does that earn another cookie?

LOL. Man I don't know. I think David got mornings out of his system a long time ago. That getting up at 4AM is for suckers! KC is a GREAT talent, so I wouldn't understand why they would move him, either. Looks like they are just building a solid team of winners to me.

I was just thinking why is Tragic spending the time to hire more people for WTVY (which had a full staff) when they have still have NO night jock on KMX. I mean is it a one station cluster now?

Ah, Headland has just brought all into focus. It looks as if it is not just a one station cluster, not just a one station broadcasting company but becoming a one person cluster and company. Any guess who that person may be?

To whom it may concern:

Thanks for your concern about my welfare.
Thanks for the kind comments about my airwork. Thanks as well for
the wonderful memories of past departures with "arse" referrences, etc.
Yes, those were the days.

Sidelined without an injury for a year is a tough pill to swallow. I did.
And under unusual circumstances. It wasn't easy. I held a grudge
way too long. I got beat in that game. It felt like Survivor and I was
forgotten on Exile Island. Outwitted, outplayed. Lesson learned.

Fortunately I was able to snag a gig in Montgomery with Bluewater.
Learned more about programming in 19 months than in all my years
in this business. They were damn good to me there. They let me
do the job. They let me sink myself into an awesome challenge
while I licked my wounds.

Time passes. Wounds heal.

WOOF allowed me to come back to Dothan. It's where I wanna be.
They're solid with or without me. Everybody knows that.

Yes, I work for Amie Pollard now. It was my decision. I've fortified
my home with barbwire and ammo and upped the insurance on my wife
and dog. This market's full of great personalities. The key word is
"personality". Like it or not, she's one and she's got one. Can you
explain her success? I've stopped trying. The listeners can explain it.

I love country music and I love promoting country radio.
I work for Amie Pollard and Magic Broadcasting. It's where I
wanna be.

It's a big freakin' wheel. Nobody knows where it will stop.
I'm just glad to be on it.

Here's the full release from Myspace which includes kind words
about my former employer which were left out on the earlier
posting and more of me being a Gomer (Goober's taken).

From Myspace:
OK Kids.....word's spreadin' like a snail on sandpaper!

Beginning Monday, I'm back in country music!! Good
Gawd pass the grits and homony. I'm on 95.5 WTVY.

After some serious deliberations, I've departed the WOOF-FM
morning show and returned to my old stomping ground. We
accompolished more than I could have imagined in a short
year and a half. The people at WOOF are quality folks. They
treated me great and I will miss them.

It's time to take on a new challenge now and see if I've still
got it on afternoons. ( I just threw up in my mouth a little.)

Please tune in weekday afternoons from 3 to 7pm and make fun
of me as often as you like........as long as you listen.

This will be an exciting new venture for me and maybe there's
an action doll or bobble head in my future.

Thanks for your support and Godspeed.

David Sommers
