Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

I just listened to the station this morninb and WAIP is still running standards as WHUC which is part oc Dial Global's America's Best Music network just like the old WMTR from many years back where they used to carried the same network before it went to Classic Oldies, except they're still running CNN Radio hourly newscasts. With four days left of CNN Radio hourly news until this Sunday, I'm not really sure if this station will keep standards and then go to either Fox News Radio hourly newscasts or NBC News Radio. Make your pick. WHUC (WAIP) is not going to simulcast WKIP anytime soon. You got WGY where they carrying the same shows that WKIP did. WGY is also picking up in Hudson and Catskill and all parts of Columbia and Greene County. Leave WHUC alone and stick with standards for now.

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

Looks like CNN Radio hourly newscasts has finally ended on WHUC (WAIP), the last hourly newscast for CNN Radio was at 11 PM which was almost an hour ago, after 30 years, CNN Radio closed its doors for good. What's next, maybe it will go to Fox News Radio, or maybe it will launch as NBC News Radio. We shall see.

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

Now that WHUC dumped CNN Radio News, it will become as NBC News Radio, I don't get that station at night due to interference issues with IBOC. I don't know why CC is thinking about going to Fox News Radio or not. I checked at Wikipedia that WAIP (WHUC) is owned by CC and features programming from CNN Radio. It is not anymore, it's now becoming NBC News Radio. I also listened to it on WGHQ on the other hand, they're launching an hourly newscasts from NBC News Radio. I also listened to one of the WHUC promos on the morning show that mentions national news from CNN Radio, but it's also not gonna be CNN Radio anymore, it's NBC News Radio to be exact. What is CC thinking? Should it be going to Fox News Radio or not? You'll be the judge. I have a link to it.

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

I was listening to the station this morning that WHUC is now running a new hourly newscast called NBC News Radio, afterwards, they were running promos that it mentions news from CNN, and guess what, the station is not running CNN Radio anymore. The final CNN hourly newscast was at 11 PM last night, but I can't get the station at night to hear the last hour of CNN Radio due to its IBOC interference. This stinks! Running promos about CNN Radio, enough with the CNN Radio thing and get on with it, NBC News Radio has finally begun. And last but not least, WHUC is still running standards and it's not going to flip to a simulcast of WKIP anytime soon. As I said, it's not gonna happen. You got WGY in Albany, but you can pick up in Hudson to get WGY as a talk station on 810 and on 103.1 FM. Forget about it, let's get on with it!

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

Since CC requested to change the calls for 1230, Hudson from WHUC to WAIP and the FCC database shows WAIP the call letters for 1230 should they not have switched. How l legally how long can they continue to use WHUC? The CNN news promo is just sloppiness but since Bill Williams is running three stations by himself that can be expected.

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

WHUC is not changing formats, They're not changing call letters, and Brian Dodge has not been in their building since last fall.

I know Dodge said when WCKL signed back on last June he wanted his own studios , preferably in Catskill .So, where is he broadcasting from; Is it like BGE said earlier in this thread ?

WCKL is on the air. Barely. Sounds like Brian's broadcasting from a van down by the river.
As far as WHUC changing calls or format, I am confused. This is what the FCC database shows, even though they are still playing standards and IDing as WHUC

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

As of right now, they're now runnong an hourly newscasts called NBC News Radio this past weekend, bye-bye CNN Radio, but on one of the promos it still mentions news from CNN instead of NBC, don't we had enough?

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

FYI:

WHUC officially changed calls to WAIP on 03/09/2012, then changed them back to WHUC on 04/02/2012.

Re: Possible Format Flip Coming To 1230 WHUC

Sounds like WHUC is programming their music local. There are no more satellite announcers today. It seems to be a good mix of Adult standards. Sounds like Joe Daily is on the station liners.

As I understand it, the way the CDBS callsign database works is that it registers requests for a new callsign even if that new callsign is never officially implemented. CC requested the change to WAIP on 3/9 but apparently changed its mind and never consummated the change. The "change back" to WHUC on 4/2 was really just a paperwork thing. Because the new callsign was never consummated, WHUC was identifying legally the whole time as WHUC. Or at least that's what has been explained to me...
