DFW, Texas — Sangean ATS-909X -- Times are CST.

New stations logged:

860 XEUN DF 11/18 2140 Instrumental music, on top of frequency // stream
940 KPSZ IA Des Moines 11/19 1658 Front Porch Fellowship, strong signal then disapeared completely at 1700 CST
940 KSWM MO Aurora 11/19 1842 Talk program about classic albums, local ads. Fair under XEQ Ke Buena.

Radio Habana Cuba was airing a half-hour or hour of Esperanto/Creole programming years ago if I recall. This in response to the Romania DX report.
When Radio Australia was on SW, they occasionally aired programming in Pidgin for Papua New Guinea natives. I still miss them. I remember summer evenings and their cricket coverage booming in on 19 meters.

I was listening to 730 just before 6pm CST tonight (Sunday) and Infowars (the Alex Jones show) was coming in well, mixing w/XEX. Right at 6:00 it completely disappeared, presumably a switch to lower night power. I can't find any mention of an affiliate on 730. Does anyone know of a current affiliate list or know who carries the show on 730? Thanks!

Power down at 6pm CST would be slightly west of us, however, no stations in that longitude on 730 kHz appear to fit the profile that would carry such a program.

760 XEABC Mexico City // stream into the Methow Valley, Winthrop WA KiwiSDR a few minutes ago! Two Regional Mexican songs // stream, then fade out. Back in now with more Reg. Mex music. 2,333 miles at 10KW night!
Not making it to my local RX right now, just a bunch of KFMB and something else buried (KDFD?)

Also an unid country station on 980, not // KMIN Grants...is Fallon NV on after dark?

1100 KNZZ Grand Junction CO heard on the Haida Gwaii SDR just before 5pm PST with mentions of "MBC Grand" (KNZZ ownership) and Western Slope sports. Interesting because KNZZ should've (at best) been on 36kW critical hours power, if not 10kW DA. And normally KFAX is a blaster on the Haida Gwaii SDR, obliterating anything else on 1100. But lately KFAX has been weak or a total no-show, while other Bay Area signals like KNBR-680, KGO-810, and even KEAR-610, KKSF-910 and KNEW-960 are at listenable levels. WTAM heard frequently in KFAX's absence or weakness, and now KNZZ shows up. Something's up with KFAX, IMHO.

The Haida Gwaii SDR has been very favorable north to Alaska and over the pole in recent days. 1215 UK has been surprisingly strong, and that 1485 in Scandinavia continues to impress with their strength.

Remember that many Mexican stations do not actually reduce power at night, and there are many "one tower directional systems" as well.

This reminds me of an old Class IV station I visited in the Dominican Republic in the 70's. It was 1 kw day and 250 watts night, per NARBA authorization. The RCA transmitter had a "high" and "low" power button. The "low" button was covered with electrical tape and there was a card taped above it saying, in Spanish of course, "never, ever touch this button".

Thanks for the Haida Gwaii info. There is a link here - https://groups.io/g/IRCA/message/30129
it's the same SDR that I enjoyed using during fall 2020/early 2021 for Asian DX.

Noting the new KABN-960 Kenai AK with CCM music (Crowder) mostly over CFAC. And like NoMoreLurking said, KNZZ Grand Junction CO is weakly on top of 1100. 1500 miles. CFYM-1210 SK alone with oldies. KBZZ-1270 Reno mostly on top with The Hawk Classic Rock, and Nat King Cole 'Christmas Song' which has to be KVMI Tulare CA (1374mi).
KAGV-1110 Big Lake AK was 20 over S9 with Adventures in Odyssey. An old '90s rerun.

Conditions continue to favor stations to the south. New stations logged:

XERED has been back on for a few weeks and pretty strong here. They seem to be sharing time between Universal and La Octava (both classic hits in English and some talk).

Listening to 690 AM on the central Jersey SDR at 5:20 local time and hearing CKGM Montreal compete with WOKV Jacksonville before they switch to their nighttime power and direction.

Also hearing WELD from West Virginia fade in and out playing oldies.

Years ago when I still lived in New Jersey, I would listen to 690 just after sunset and hear WAPE Jacksonville 'The Big Ape' for a short time before they went to their nighttime mode when the signal suddenly vanished.

A complicated follow-up on KFAX 1100 - apparently there will be warehouses built at their site, then KFAX will rebuild their array on top of them. They've been granted an STA to use just one tower at 12.5kW non-directional, so for a while they won't be quite the west coast blowtorch.

Since KTRB 860 diplexes with KFAX, KTRB is on the run yet again, temporarily operating from the KDOW 1220 site with 5kW non-directional during construction. Supposedly KTRB will be roommates with KFAX again when all the fun dies down.

Good catch on XEABC! I heard them here in SE Mich once, early morning hours back in January 2018 when WJR was off the air for maintenance. Present along with several other (I suspect Cuban) signals.

I moved within Chicago about 6 months ago, and my new place has horrid AM radio reception so I basically stopped DXing... until today. I noticed one window panel seemed to get better reception, so I placed my Crane Radio against the window, and lo and behold there was an NPR station on 910 I hadn't heard before, WSUI in Iowa City. A few minutes later it was gone, probably due to the pattern shift at sunset. It may not be the best catch possible, but it gives me hope for that window panel....

The other night, I picked up KEIN 1310 Great Falls, MT in La Connor, WA. Nice and strong with no noticeable fading for the time it took me to drive back home to Bellingham. I'm starting to like these comedy stations

KTRB 860 is currently operating from the licensed KFAX site under STA and thats where they will build out the CP.

KFAX is not on top of a wearhouse, but near one. and KFAX has no CP to mvoe locations.

KMKY 1310 is moving to diplex with KSFN 1510, which is atop a wearhouse, @NoMoreLurking

(I've seen pics of the KFAX/KTRRB site from the engineer after reporting reception of them both)

From the southwest suburbs of Chicago:

1440 WZYX Cowan, Tenn., matched to stream with adult rock. Supposedly 66 watts night, but 5 kW day power is as likely. Lots of IDs and local ads; IDed at 2:12 a.m. 11/26.
