Post your latest DX

I was on the Central New Jersey SDR yesterday afternoon after it was already nighttime there and I found out Cousin Brucie is back on WABC!

He sounds just like he used to and was playing some good songs from the 60's and with all the old sounders and jingles too.

His show is Saturday Nights from 6 to 9 pm.

IIRC, The Cuz returned Labor Day weekend. There was quite a bit of fanfare, and rightfully so IMHO. I keep forgetting to tune in, but I understand he's getting rave reviews!

Yes, he's been on since Labor Day weekend and now they've expanded his show to 4 hours. The old WABC jingles are there.

Tonight I was listening to the Masset, BC receiver and heard a pretty strong KFIR from Oregon on 720. I also heard them on the Hawaii receiver. I don't think they were running their stated 146 watts at night. Nope, I'll bet it was higher :)

In right now (7:26 p.m. CT) on Nov. 25: KSCJ 1360 Sioux City with the "Hawk Talk," Iowa football coaches' show, pretty solid for the last 15 minutes. Eighth different station on 1360, fifth new on this frequency in the last 11 months, and I'm amazed I haven't heard it before.

Nice catch! I've never heard them around here either. The part of the world where I've heard them on a fairly reliable basis is up and down the I-29 coridor from Kansas City to Winnipeg.

Some late night Thankgiving DX 0500Z-0530Z finally had a breakthrough on the Arctic receiver.
KOMO and KIRO both good, KTLK fair-good. WYLL fair-good. KSTP fair. WBBM weak underneath code. KOTZ weak-fair.
Nothing outstanding, but finally a breakthrough for me on the Arctic SDR.

Heard WIND on the Winnipeg receiver around 12mid 11/26. It was well above WEBC and anything else on 560.

That's been my experience more often thn not, which always surprises me. When I first started going to Winnipeg on business trips in the 1990s, I'd stay downtown at either the Fort Garry Hotel or the Westin. Two buildings that are built like fortresses, and not great for DX. WIND would still typically be strong enough break through, but not WEBC. In more recent years it's been either the Comfort Inn on the south edge of town or the Fairfield Inn by the airport (west side of town). Those two hotels that may as well have been built for DXers. Noise free and of more modern construction. I can't remember a night at either one where I didn't hear WIND. KLZ and KMON also occasionally turn up. The latter usually at sunrise.

(The Fairfield has some rooms overlooking the building which houses the CJOB studios and offices).

I've never been to Winnipeg, but I enjoy listening to this receiver. As you pointed out WIND is there more often than not. Lots of interesting stuff from the Dakotas, KEYZ on 660, and there seems to be a good pipeline of DX between Chicago and Winnipeg and some stuff from Western Canada.

Had a surprise log of WPLO Garyson, GA right after midnight local time last night. Spanish language vocals and "La Bonita" slogans. New one for the logbook.

Earlier at 11pm I heard KSGF 1260 in Springfield, MO with Springfield weather forecast and 104.1/1260 identification followed by Red Eye Radio. I don't think I've heard this one before.

On the Edinburgh, Ind., SDR tonight, the Cubans are prominent. Audible under 670 and over 710 and 890. Can't remember WLS getting completely wiped out before, but it was for a few minutes.

I wonder how much solar activity has to do with it.

I don't know about the solar activity, but WSCR often gets wiped out by the Cubans on the Northern SDRs. Even on the upstate NY ones.

WSCR often gets wiped out by a Cuban signal here in the Kansas City area. And, on occasion, the signal just disappears. My best reception of WSCR is typically during critical hours. This same pattern is not true for WGN, WBBM or WLS.

Not much doing on the Arctic Norway and Iceland SDRs tonite (11/30), so I went over to the Hawaii receiver. It didn't take long for an unexpected catch. 10:00pm CDT (0400 UIC), and a TOH positive ID from CFAC on 960 from Calgary. Signal was mixing with another station that I couldn't identify, but steady, on top, and listenable with Monday Night Football.

I always remember early on in my DXing that CMGN 720 in Cuba was about 20 Hz away from WGN and frequently interfered. This goes back to the 1960s, and I'm not sure what's there now.

There's a 2.5 kw station in Mabujabo, and it's not a factor, since I can hear WGN right now (2:25 a.m. CT) on the Key West SDR.

Growing up in Peoria during the 1960s, I remember this strong at times nighttime heterodyne on WGN.
