Two new ones for me before local. sunrise this morning.....
First, having seen from earlier posts that two widely-heard signals on 1560 are currently down, I decided to check that out.And I'm glad I did. I was hearing classic country on a fair signal, pretty much all alone for about 20 minutes with minimal fading When I finally heard a positive ID, it turned out to be WKDO. "98.7 The Buck", A 1kw non directional daytimer from Liberty in Eastern Kentucky. Apparently with pre-sunrise authorization when I heard it between 5:30 and 6am local time at my location (1130 and 1200 UTC).. Distance: 382 miles.
After that around 6am, I landed on 1430 and a strong monologue in Chinese. That turned out to be CHKT, 50kw directional primarily to the North-northeast. I've actually heard this one 2-3 decades ago durimg its days using the CJCL call letters, but the signal this morning just before suinrise. was definitely more impressive than what i remembered. Distance: 453 miles.
Radio for both catfches was the C. Crane skywave.
