A couple of new catches to ta,k about.
First, last week.
560. Finally solved tge mysteryof what station hasbee2n only faintly audible undpringfield, MOer local WIND. After 6 mooooooonths of trying...even woth WIND nulled...it turned to be exactly as I suspected.. KWTO. Spromgfie4ld, MO. Weak, but strongeer than usual with positive ID, A little after 4am CST 11/30 IIRC.
This is kind of funny, to me anyway -- I've also been hearing KWTO fighting with WIND. WIND is the nighttime regular, but the last year or so KWTO (I think) has been fighting with it. It's so much noise! And so elusive! And it's only rarely that I can make out a word of KWTO. Lots and lots and lots of words, but I can't understand any of them. For all I know, they might be sitting there in Springfield saying, "banana banana banana banana..." over and over, but probably not. It's a running joke with me. I've been able to ID KWTO maybe twice at most.560. Finally solved tge mysteryof what station hasbee2n only faintly audible undpringfield, MOer local WIND. From Springfield, OH...
KOZN, Belleview, NE, and also a station broadcasting in Spanish what sounded like a basketball or some other sport play by play. I checked the known spanish stations on 1620 (2 in Mexico and one in NJ) and they were all playing music. No idea what it could have been, would periodically play a portion of the 80s instrumental song, Axel F... I need to get me some directional antenna that can null out stations...
The FCC lists 970616AG in Toms River, but not sure what those letters mean. I did find a listen live link for Radio Vida in NJ at 1620 as well. Nonetheless, it was not what I was hearing, and you're right, no other spanish language stations located in the US.There is no licensed 1620 in NJ.... and no 1620 doing spanish in the Us unless theres been a change somewhere
1680 WTTM is the Spanish station from New Jersey, not 1620.The FCC lists 970616AG in Toms River, but not sure what those letters mean. Wonder if that could be getting pirated? I will continue to try to listen and get some more clues. I like a mystery...

1320: This morning 5am CST. WMSR Manchester, TN (Between Nashville & Chattanooga). Presumably 5kw day power. Good signal with local ads & positive ID
Radio Lenta/Radio Pravda broadcasting in Russian from Lithuania with 50kw heard at 1930UTC Thu Dec 7 in alaska, 4300 miles away
Is that your longest distance on AM aside from Australia-New Zealand? Amazing you can pull that off.
Curious what this is, lists it as Paterson, NJ.1680 WTTM is the Spanish station from New Jersey, not 1620.
Gotcha, thanks. Still hunting for what I might be hearing. Grabbed an audio copy of 2 minutes. Trying to find a spanish audio converter.\
Thats just an allocation or application.. ti was to be a sister to WJRZ 1550, long long gone. 1620 was never on the air there
Thanks! Part of my motivation was in all of my years as a DXer as a DXer in northwest suburban Chicago, I had NEVER heard anything UNDER WIND. Until about about six months ago, I did hear KWTO a couple of times with WIND off.Nice detective work. Pays to never give up.
Curious what this is, lists it as Paterson, NJ.

It could be a pirate, but could be an online only station. I don't get anything on 1620 other than WNWN396 North Arlington, NJ or Radio Rebelde from Cuba. Hey, maybe that's the other 1620 you got in Spanish, the one from Cuba.Curious what this is, lists it as Paterson, NJ.

Same here, and I'm about 20 miles from their array. Catching WFIL, KLVI, KLZ and KWTO all came after their Sunday night signoff at 2 a.m., following the Whiffenpoof song. Thanks!
