Post your latest DX

Have been receiving 770-KKOB much more recently than in the past.
It's not super-strong and clear, but you can hear New Mexico and Albuquerque-related phrases.

In another area north of the Austin, TX, metro region (Jarrell), I rarely caught it. The Dallas 770, even at night, overpowered it.

But in an eastern Austin suburb, I get it alongside Dallas if I move the radio.

When the Dallas station is weak, I turn the radio in hopes of catching 77-WABC. Same with KRVN-880 and WCBS-880, but no dice.

DX reception for some reason is much better in my home's guest bathroom, alongside an east wall. When I lower the Grundig Yachtboy to the floor up against the bathtub, reception improves, particularly for 770 KKOB and 670 KLTT-Denver.

12/3 20:45 CST 1290 KC WHKY Hickory, NC
Racing news 1kw good copy.
Have heard WBTG Sheffield, AL before. (Adult standards) 79 watts.
Heard a weak music station that could have been a country format, not really sure.
Not much foreign dx listed on Wikipedia.
2127 CST 1260 KC KBRH Baton Rouge, LA
Blues music 127 watts weak/fair copy.
This station plays some great music you won't hear anywhere else.

On Amtrak with my Sangean DT-200X Yesterday leaving Davis

On 103.7 I got random talking, Sounds like a LPFM, Doesn't sound like what a Pirate would play

I have no Idea, It fades out like after we get going, I can try again when I'm down going to Vallejo the week of the Christmas

Thanks Dondd. Here's a sound byte from 8/13/22 from KLLA 1570 Leesville, LA. Oldies. They're in west central LA.
6 watts fair copy!

12/5 1430 KC WXNT Indianapolis, IN

KKOB is running about half power from a temporary tower.

12/6 21:37 CST 1600 KC KLEB Golden Meadow, LA "The Rajun Cajun" oldies. 60 watts nighttime. Weak copy.

22:10 1590 KC WCSL Cherryville, NC 30 watts. Good copy for awhile. Mentioned I-85 and some businesses in nearby Shelby, NC.

Earlier heard briefly a country station which might have been KEKR "Kicker Country "
Mexia, TX. 65 watts I've heard them before.
Also hearing weak Hispanic station on 1590.

New tropo/aircraft scatter catches yesterday on the TEF-6686 from the Crown Point area in Cascade:
KBAZ-96.3 Hamilton MT w/ Queen // stream (53KW, 187 miles)
KUMA-92.1 Pilot Rock OR, Guns & Roses // stream, quite strong at times, but brief (6.9KW, 162 miles)
plus KORR-104.1 American Falls ID (210 miles, relog)
Had a tentative on KIRQ-106.7 Hailey ID with Christmas music, but it wasn't in long enough to parallel to the stream. Would be 127 miles, but blocked by tons of mountains.

Planning to go to a 4-element or 9-element FM antenna on a tripod soon. Could an ordinary FM antenna (4-elem.) fit on a camera tripod? If so, I'd like to test it with an SMA adapter and see if other FM DX can be pulled in through some of the local frequencies - or if the scatter is even stronger on the multi-element antennas over the whip. No meteor scatter yesterday, but the Geminids peaks later this week.

West Houston TX

On Monday 12/9/24 my local KMIC 1590 was running open carrier only. At 5:03pm CST I was able to null the OC and hear a fair/good signal from WHOT in Palm River-Clair Mel Florida. "Radio Nouvelle Lumiere" was heard with Creole French talk //to their webstream. This was 30 minutes past their sunset but assume they were still on their 9.8kw day power. I've never heard them during multiple KMIC outages over the years.

Kenosha, WI Thursday 12/12 2:30 PM CST. Usual AM band scan while waiting for my daughter to get out of school. Kind of typical daytime conditions; tuned across 1440 and heard oldies music, which usual WROK doesn't do. Hung around for an ID. WEBR Niagara Falls, NY. 1000 watts on day power, decent signal. New "log" for me (I gave up logging a long time ago).

As much as I dislike winter, it's always cool to catch these oddballs this time of year.

how can you PROVE it was on day power?

Last night, I heard some interesting classical-like music bubbling under KEX 1190. Couldn't get an ID.

What could it have been? I was thinking maybe KDYA, but they're supposed to be a daytimer, and I heard this around 10 PM Pacific, so well past dark.

1340 KATA Arcata, CA about 630pm AK 12 14 with local spot and ESPN programming

Not a new log or uncommon here but not as regyular as KIHH 1400

KIHH is 700 some odd watts and only a mile or two away from KATA.. but KIHH is taller than 1/4 wave, KATA is is 1/.4 wave and KIHHis right on the water looking north, KATA is on the water, but looking north, its all land

12/15 21:30 CST 950 KC WAKM Franklin, TN country format 75 watts fair copy.
Have also gotten WFKN Franklin, KY.
Maybe there's more Franklin's out there! Lol!
