XERF 1570 slamming in like a ton of led bricks, 0230UTC Mar 26

Pretty regular in Denver but it seems unusually strong tonight.

Are you in Wyoming now?

@Mark Roberts Yup, in Laramie.. doing news and community affairs type stuff for 4 FMs while retaining my afternoon shift on the AC station. Been working for the owner for 7 1/2 years in some capacity even when in Alaska, he bought 3 stations and asked me to come back,, so here I am.

The Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas has made it to WA and ID on Es in the past (on 95.3 FM). I doubt their 250W AM on 800 will ever make it up this way.

Meanwhile, I was up on Cowiche Mountain yesterday. Couldn't land a substitute teaching job, so I went off to the mountain (about 3000 feet, near Cowiche WA). The TEF pulled in several new stations for the Yakima logbook. I believe this puts me up to 920 logs overall.

-103.9 K280BZ Wenatchee (with KW3, KWWW 96.7) 50W 57mi
-107.9 KJHS-LP Wenatchee (Spanish Religious) 100W 56mi
-102.9 KEFA-LP Wenatchee (EWTN) 100W 56mi
-92.1 K221BI Wenatchee (KWLN-103.3, La Nueva) 99W 60mi
-94.3 K232ED Sunnyslope (Jack FM) 99W 60mi
-89.3 KOPL Omak (Positive Life Radio), this was a real surprise! Matched local 91.1, behind by about 30 seconds. Only 200 watts at 142 miles!!

Equis E Erre Effe from earlier this month at 0301utc 901pm MT with a full legal id, that I like to joke, ID's the location of everything including the station kitchen sink

I thought this clip of spanish on 730 might've been XESOS but the Cliff Claven of Mexico radio knowledge, Tim Hall told me that at 1 min 45 secs they're saying "En Parral, La Más Picuda" making this XEHB at the very southern tip of Chihuahua state, 1000 miles away

Audio from several weeks ago XEHB 730 MX Sun Mar 15, 2026 0316UTC.MP3

When KCTE 1510 doesnt sign off...

...this is how they can sound in Laramie, WY

Did you contact Union Broadcasting about it? This has been going on quite awhile.
Logged a new one a few weeks ago, KLPF 1180 Midland, TX with what I think was EWTN's Mother Angelica waxing religiously poetic, as I'm calling it.

Here's some audio:
That is definitely Mother Angelica:

I tuned into a local KiwiSDR a few minutes ago (06:09 UTC, 11:09 PM Pacific), and I can hear something classical fading in and out.

Could it be KMZT? I'm trying to listen for an ID, but I'm not too optimistic, because it's fading fast and getting buried.

I also heard a reference to "Cool FM" and "Here Comes The Sun" by the Beatles, plus some talk that doesn't sound religious (it sounds more like secular conservative talk). 1260 is a busy frequency tonight!

EDIT: Got an ID! It's definitely KMZT! What could be causing it to be heard so far north? Are there auroral conditions?

EDIT 2: Definitely heard KSFB just now after hearing "Walking on Sunshine." That station IDed as, I think, KLYC out of McMinnville, OR (I had to do a double take, because I could swear I heard them ID as "KOIT 1260").

XERF 1570 just slamming in like a ton of led bricks at 0300UTC Sun Apr 4.

XEWA 540, usually dominant here, is off or at reduced power. Checking in the car AT 8:20pm here in Houston, WASG Mobile AL is on top, surely not on 19w night power. Underneath is KMLB Monroe LA.

XEMR 1140 Metro Monterrey. 1125 miles away. Pretty loud and mostly in the clear at 0216 UTC Mon Apr 6.

XEPZ 1190 Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua Pretty decently loud and clear at 0233Utc Apr 6 with music and Maxima 99.1 liner
