Post your latest DX

One ? catch a few minutes before that. Loud Fox News on 1420 (national and world) ended at 5:05, followed by what (pardon the oxymoron) sounded like dead air -- no programming, music or talk. It was as if the board op was in the can or asleep.
There probably wasn’t a board op there at all, it was probably an automation glitch.

I received two new stations in Clifton, NJ last night and overnight. The first one was 1190 WSDE Cobleskill, NY which is around 126 miles (203 km) away from me. The station is branded as "Lite 94.3 & 100.1".
A few hours later, I received 600 WCAO Baltimore, MD which is around 171 miles (275 km) away from me. The station is branded as "Heaven 600".

@ MichaelD1972 -- nice catch on WCAO. Back near JFK Airport in Queens they were a faint Top 40 toughie with that pattern even when WICC Bridgeport was off the air. In their more recent religion times I caught WCAO finishing very nicely in the Salisbury-Ocean City MD ratings!

Recent DX here** was tonight, 13 May, Weds @ 10:06. The GE SR2 was tuned to 1470 when I clicked it on, and a rocker of sorts thudding away held my ear for a few "ID's" of True Oldies 94.1 and 1470. Ithaca's WNYY -- long-time WTKO -- matches the check boxes. The AM is 1000w at night covering the Finger Lakes but sends a back-blip lobe this way. The marqee FM is a small extension speaker, directional the same way but tighter back nulls. Second newie in three days on 1470., lol.

** 'Here' is the literal junction of eastern Pottsville (zip code), St. Clair's industrial park, and Port Carbon (Yuengling brewery). What suffices for Port Carbon's downtown is by far the closest -- a bicycle ride away.

Listening to Bob Biermann and Glenn Hauser between 0250 and 0310UTC May 16 on WTWW 5085 and there is a very slight but obvious popping/clicking every few seconds.

@ SomeRadioGuy
Perhaps you or someone else aboard can be of assistance.

The pops and clicking you mention are are daily nuisances in this QTH, primarily in the day, and seemingly (not all) nested at the lower half of the AM dial. Some of the clicks have a tempo, as if they're on a loop ; two or three are loud hums that each smother a few AM frequencies, and there's this surf-effect static mix that make daytime DX a nightmare.
I'm about 3/8 mile west of a dialysis treatment clinic .... a half an air mile from a large brewery, a half mile NW of some sort of huge relay tower, 5/8 miles east of a green-yellow-red stoplight , an air mile NW from another g-y-r traffic light, and an insulated common wall from a family with unknown digital access and a noisy mutt. I haven't had a TV on in ten years. The lights in our place are all of old-style 75- or 100 watt bulbs. Our house is a corner house, with power lines on two sides.
The street outside is the busiest road I ever had an address on. Shifts coming and going on it 24/7-- buses, trucks, sanitmen, residents -- treat the 35 MPH speed limit as though it were graffiti on an express lane.
Do any of these charming conditions hold any blame?

(Knock on the door. 'Hi, Steve. We're the family with the unknown digital stuff and the noisy mutt next door .....')

KPUR 1440 Amarillo, TX is back on… again.

When it first came back on about a month and change ago, I heard it every night very well here… But after about two or three weeks, it was gone… Well, I’m hearing country music tonight on 1440 and it’s not Oregon. It’s not Colorado and it doesn’t match the playlist KPUR 95.7 and it’s country with a liner every fourth song or so but no commercials, it went dead air for a few minutes before 0300 utc and then i t ID’d as KPUR amarillo ….
sounds like a it’s running running a country gold format separate from 95.7

Cuba on SW tonight:

9710 is on but with subpar modulation, 11 760 is on with no modulation but really odd noise on the carrier and 11 950 is on but with absolutely no attempt at modulation from Cuba

One night last week – could've been Wednesday or Thursday – I heard R. Enciclopedia on various KiwiSDRs around in Texas and New Mexico.

Some nights in years past when conditions are particularly good, I could hear R. Enciclopedia in my car. Haven't been able to lately, perhaps because they're transmitting part time at reduced power to conserve what little power they have.

Nice Tropo in South Carolina this Tuesday morning. From Myrtle Beach SC, WLTR 91.3 Columbia with classical overpowers semi local WHQR Wilmington NC, 45 miles away. Moving antenna nulls Columbia to pick up Wilmington. WNOK 104.7, WCOS 97.5, WWDM 101.3 also loud and clear.

There has been Es on the East Coast the past couple of days. Nice opening this morning with the usual FL/GA/AL paths to the northeastern U.S. and Ontario, Ohio region.

DX TIP: WLIQ 1530 Quincy, IL
on after dark with the Garth Brooks tune I can still make Cheyenne at 0215 UTC May 20

Hopped on the Johnson City TX SDR (thanks George, K5TR) and with some other DXers, logged several SC/GA/FL FMs up to the top of the band this afternoon, very nice E-skip opening:
- 88.1 WRJA Sumter SC
- 107.3 WMGL Ravenel SC "Magic"
- 106.7 WOKA Douglas GA
- 90.1 WXVS Waycross GA GPB
- 90.1 WFRU Quincy FL
- 88.5 WVDA Valdosta GA, AFR
- 94.3 WSCC Goose Creek SC w/ Clay & Buck, 94-3 WSC
- 94.1 WQBT Savannah GA with rap music and RDS
- 89.9 WJWJ Beaufort SC // 88.1 WRJA, SC Public Radio
- 89.9 WJCT Jacksonville
- 88.1 WJSP Warm Springs GA, RDS GPB
- 91.7 WLPG Florence SC, Christian talk, RDS Good News Network
- 94.9 WVCO Loris SC "94-9 the Surf" Great oldies and beach music format!!
- 87.7 WTBS Atlanta The Vibe
- 89.7 WMHK Columbia SC K-LOVE
- 90.1 WHMC Conway SC
AND THE KICKER...a 94.9 that IDed as "Heaven 94.9 Hinesville". A sixty-eight watt LPFM, WHNL-LP Hinesville GA! WOW! I recorded all of this and will try and get that WHNL-LP clip up. The signal was as strong as if I parked at the town's local Waffle House.

so what i can tell you for sure is that KPUR 1440 is 100 percent running their own 90s centric country format

No commercials. Heard a liner that had some effort into producing it, “The legendary KPUR-AM amarillo” between two songs. Than another song later, a very poor excuse for a computerized voice “stay tuned for another hour of music”. and they’ll go another 4 song so without a liner

Heard WLIQ 1530 Quincy, IL again Wednesday night. Sent an email to the Brand Manager for their FM sister station and they said they will notify their engineer

Nice radio and good catches too.

I'm listening to the SDR in Elizabeth City, NC and hear two very weak stations at once on 630.

Since I can't get any official IDs, by looking at the AM station frequency guide, they have to be WMFD from Wilmington, NC and WPRO from Providence, RI.

The local time there is 4 pm and that SDR is at one of the best locations for daytime saltwater paths.

WPRO was an easy catch in the daytime at the Jersey shore last time I was there.

I had lived there ten years ago.. a LW airport beacon still exists at the CG base there. You can hear it on the SDR on 254 khz.. they're almost all gone

KRKK's an easy catch. I, a DXing novice, am able to get it over here in California with relatively little effort (it comes in best right around WY sunset).

I been trying to get KRKK from Carmichael, nothing

Only 1360 with my Sangean DT-200X

KFIV, Modesto, CA in the Daytime (Talk)
