Potential 99X flip???

D

This morning the RDS feed on my car radio identified 99X as OLDIES. Is this a sign of things to come?

It's probably the engineer tryin' to stir up a little trouble....I doubt anyone would want to show their hand that way if they were about to flip. It could be another station or two are thinking about making that same move to oldies.
The new PPM numbers do seem to favor oldies....I wonder who will make the flip first??

You mean like when The Bull had ther website up BEFORE the station launched? Oh wait, that was just an eff-up. ;D

This is a great sounding oldies station in N.C. that my buddy programs and would fit the Atlanta market perfectly I think. This Rhythmic Oldies did a 7.6 12+ Great sounding smaller market station. Atlanta could learn from it.

Take a listen:

I can't imagine they'd flip 99.7 to oldies, but do think that Q on 99.7 and oldies on 100.5 would make sense. But in that scenario, I would think that they would simulcast Q on 99.7 and 100.5 for a month or so and promote the hell out of it, and then re-launch 100.5.

I agree. I can't see them turning over the more powerful signal to Oldies instead boosting Q100 and it more advertiser-friendly demos. Although I never have a problem with the Q signal it seems to get a lot of comments here.

One other thought and how can I miss this opportunity. If 99x did flip to oldies they could keep the same morning show since certainly Leslie and Sean are the targeteted demo of over 45.

LOL, nicely played. :)

I'd personally like to see either 105.3 or 105.7 go back to oldies

I like oldies stations but've always enjoyed 99x as it is...well aside from when TRG and their morning show were competing head to head...the it was trg hands down!

I never listened to 99x before but I think your onto something. I listened during lunch and they were playing older songs and the DJ's sounded like he was playing whatever he wanted and not off a set playlist. He described all the songs as classic vinyl, the birth of rock and roll and an oldie but a goodie.

Wouldn't surprise me if they go Oldies. This station's ratings are HORRIBLE and it's time for a change. Besides, Cumulus has quite a few Oldies stations and seems to have faith in the format. According to their website they have these stations:

http://www.kool1079.com/ - Grand Junction, CO
KPUR/Amarillo, TX (no site)
KVGO/Rochester, MN ""
http://www.949kcmo.com - Kansas City, KS/MO
http://accessdubuque.com/oldies1075/ - Dubuque, IA
http://www.1039wvbo.com/ - Oshkosh, WI
http://www.wogb.fm - Green Bay, WI
http://www.935wrqn.com - Toledo, OH
http://www.oldiesradionc.com - Fayetteville, NC
http://www.sunny1065.net - Myrtle Beach, SC
http://www.961wsox.com - York, PA
http://www.wgrr.com - Cincinnati, OH

OK, so I am bored... ::) - I hope they go for it and give it a chance. ATL needs Oldies and 99.7 is the perfect place for it, IMO. They do a decent job with the format, not the greatest, but OK.

That most likely was The Retroplex that Steve plays every day at noon. Lots of "classic" stuff from the 70's and 80's.

I'm actually surprised that 92.9 has not become the return of Z-93 with classic hits from the 60's - 80's. Great signal and heritage calls.
