This morning the RDS feed on my car radio identified 99X as OLDIES. Is this a sign of things to come?

I listened during lunch and they were playing older songs and the DJ's sounded like he was playing whatever he wanted and not off a set playlist. He described all the songs as classic vinyl, the birth of rock and roll and an oldie but a goodie.
