I wonder how much different the End would have sounded and how much longer it would have lasted if they went with the original format idea instead of going full blown alternative?
You forget...in the 90s...alternative was the rage. At one point, The End, WMMS Next Generation, and 92.3 were all doing alternative (though Jammin 92's alt program was just in the evenings...)

Jammin 92 went by a separate name in the evening alternative hours. I want to say it was Channel 92X or something along those lines.
The biggest game changer would have been if WMMS had gone CHR/Pop in 1998 as KISS 101 FM. Jammin was still around at the time.
Lots of fond memories of 107.9 The End, not just here but around town too. They certainly made an impact but never posted very big numbers though. Had they survived until today, the PPM may have been more favorable to them.

Was Rocco officially PD at WENZ?
I'm old. Gets confusing.

I also submit an aircheck of Brian and Joe from August of that year, which included then-Mayor Michael White

I've also submitted some more audio of The End and Jammin' 92 from 1993 to that site (When it will be posted, I don't know).
As for who was the sweeper/ID guy on The End in its first few years, it was the late Brian James.
