It looks like Power is leveling out this book, and honestly, I think that's fine - the Rhythmic-leaning pop listeners aren't going anywhere, and the station's most likely making a lot more money than they would have if they had kept Project around
Nobel Broadcasting? I thought 96.1's family tree was CC, Jacor, Citicasters/Great American/Taft, Gulf, and before that I don't know until you get to Kennedy/Lathom/Swan.newsyjunkie said:Bring back 96Rock
Everything tried since on 96.1 has just been crap.
CC has not cared about product for years. Cumulus does and the loyal listenership of Q100 and Rock 100.5 shows that. 96.1 steadily went to Hell since CC purchased Nobel Broadcasting Group.

secondchoice said:IMHO Alex is on to something that I have said for a long time, CC / Atlanta or someone in TX and Radio One has not driven around the neighborhoods or can't read the census data. What rally needs to happen is Radio One and CC swap 105.3 and 107.5. 105.3 is a good candidate to be some flavor or Urban station. 107.5 covers the traditional Hispanic areas of the market. If such a trade is not possible, then 105.7 would put a better signal over the Hispanic part of the market. 105.3 does cover most of the inter part (285) of the market with 60 DM:

I don't think CC will give up on CHR on 96.1 because IMHO CHR listeners have no loyalty. When I was a preteen and teen, if a song / commercial came on I didn't like I switch stations in less than 10 seconds. Will 96.1 be a success using cookie cutter programming, most likely not, but if CC gets a locally orientated PD, and allows that PD to program to Atlanta not nationally Q 100 could find itself in a real "CHR war".
Taft, Great American, and Citicasters were essentially the same company, through a series of spinoffs and bankruptcies, and resulting name changes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taft_Broadcastingtrusty said:jabba17 said:Nobel Broadcasting? First thing, how funny that you mentioned that 105.3 covers the "weakest area" of the Hispanic population in the Greater Atlanta area. That's halerious. You would think that Clear Channel would have the minds to understand, uh, what's the word: demographics... Someone educate these folks.
