Power back at 96.1fm (HD2)

John Garabedian must really love radio. He's in his 80's and developed Liveline, is launching (with partners) Radiocraft LLC, and recently purchased (and upgraded) WJIB. I doubt he really has to work.

And by the way, I recommend his autobiography. Parts of it read like a thriller.
I grew up listening to OPEN HOUSE PARTY. I first heard it on "Power99" WAPW/Atlanta around 1990. I listened all the way up to John's retirement in January 2017. John Garabedian is a radio genius! He's always shown an extreme passion for radio and really perked up some of those sleepy, smaller market CHR stations that had nothing else going on, on Saturday/Sunday nights. Complete with mixshows (including exclusive 12" club mixes of popular songs). Plus, interviews and literally 100% listener requests... all LIVE. I still get misty thinking about it. Good times, indeed.

I know this is an old thread but man... you took me back with OHP. Him and Kannon with a K. My listening period was somewhere around 2007-2010 maybe? Great times.

Considering that none of the iHeart decision-makers are in Texas and haven't been for over a decade now, I wouldn't put much credence in this. iHeart made their big changes last year and need time to let those settle.
The state of the economy, tight budget cuts and what not, not a lot of major flips are going to happen. It's a sad state of affairs. Realistically speaking, radio will become more corporate and before you know it, local djs won't be a thing. I wish ATL had a AC station when it was still on 94.9 but here we are.

What you're saying really only applies to iHeart stations.
