PPM Sacramento

From memory...

98 Rock, The Eagle and KNCI were top three overall (the other country station didn't do badly though)

98 Rock was tops in mornings along Jack and I think Eagle. Tied for fourth: Capitol Public Radio. KGBY, 7th.

Big hits for the big AMs in their target (25-54): KFBK 7th in mornings and Armstrong & Getty down to 14th. Maybe Clear Channel should make more cuts.

Sorry I can't remember the breakouts but there were a few wakeup calls and a few sighs of relief and a few pleasant surprises, depending on who you were.

Seems to me this needs a year of numbers to really see any trends.

How did KSSJ fare?

Hope this answers a few immediate questions. Again, this is just the first measure, it doesn't become official till January and we'll need a year to see how these numbers hold up because, as I'm sure a lot of you know, many of the old, ratings driven formulas form building cume, tsl, etc, etc, are out the window. I think I read somewhere around this site asking if call letters even matter anymore. There may be something to that. Could you imagine saying that 10 or 20 years ago?

Big winners:
--Jack, moving from 18th to tie for 3rd in AQH persons (18-34 adults). Gains in cume (up 199%), TSL (13%), AQH (154%) and shares (duh! From 1.9 to 6.6.)
--Is this a surprise? KXSE-FM (Spanish) was up in AQH persons 18-24 adults (from 16th to 7th), cume (up 121%), AQH Audience (47%) and share (from 2.2 to 4.4), but a drop in TSL (down 31%). However, the other Spanish, KRCX, got hurt.

Biggest losers:
--KSTE, down from a tie for 7th to a tie for 25th. They lost cume (31%), TSL (81%) and AQH audience (89%). Share went from 3.9 to 0.6. (Man, that's gotta hurt)
--Zone, went from 5th to 13th. Increased cume (61%) but lost TSL (72%) AQH audience (42%). Shares dropped from 4.2 to 3.0.

Elsewhere:
--Smooth jazz: Up from 24th to 20th. Increased cume (by 231%) but lost TSL (54.5%). Gained AQH (50%) and share from 0.6 to 1.2.
--KSFM: Cume is up 44%, TSL down 62.5%, AQH down 30%, share down from 7 to a 6.6. They remain 3rd in the market, tied with Jack.
--The End: Cume 35% higher, TSL 47% lower, AQH up 75%, shares up from 7.4 to 8.7, 2nd in the market.
--The Bomb: Cume higher (43.5%), TSL down (33), AQH down (53%), shares down from 5.8 to 5.2, ranked 5th in the market.
--V101: Cume higher (125%), TSL lower (78%), AQH down (36%), shares slip from 3.3 to 2.8, rank down from 12th to 14th.

These are all 18-34 adults. Station targets (male, female, etc), I don't have yet.
Haven't seen specifics for 25-54 though am told the future for AM news-talk is old and getting older, fast, as in half the KFBK and KSTE audiences are over 55, as in Social Security, not-interested-in-buying it demo.

Perhaps a News/Talk FM Station is closer to happening than a lot of folks think? How about smack dab in the middle of the FM dial at 100.5 FM? Couldn't happen to a better radio station than The Zone!

Nice thought, however...Premiere owns the talent and is owned by Clear Channel. I doubt if they would let 100.5 have Rush Limbuagh to kill their own KFBK. Clear Channel is more likely to start and FM by simulcasting. The KSTE situation does NOT make any sense when you look at KFI's PPM numbers.

It's hard to jump to conclusions with one month of pre-currency PPM data especially before the market PPM system is accredited. Univision radio has refused to install PPM encoders at their San Diego stations due to issues with the system.

BAHAHAHAHAHAH ROFL OMFG ROFLMAO.
i think i just peed a little.

you're both WAY wrong.

They're sticking to Hot AC.

Why would Byron Kennedy let them flip to a CHR? That would be the DUMBEST decision ever. Effectively counter-programming against one of their own stations? I dont think so!

Why would they flip to news/talk. NT stations cost a crapload, there's no decent syndicated programming available as all of the most listened to and recognized talent is already on stations in sacramento. to and they seem to be running lean and with low overhead.

the most likely format flip? alternative or active rock.

and that ain't happnin

Judging from those numbers, it looks like Sacramento is truly a mecca for Top 40. Chances are that Sacramento's population might be getting younger, which may be fueling their cumes.

What about Bonneville?

They're looking at Citadel's ABC stations right now. I don't know if they're going to go for a buying spree. One thing is for certain, Bonneville treats their employees well.
I agree. Just ask the employees of Entercom San Francisco. They sure miss their former employer.

Could you imagine KGO San Francisco owned by Bonneville?Talk about a horror story! Not for Bonneville but for the employee's. YIKES!

It would be interesting how they would deal with their more liberal hosts. They do treat their people well, but they have rigid programming standards and I find it hard to believe they would allow more progressive viewpoints on the air.

It could be a horror story if Bonneville were take over a station like KGO (who is a rare bird).

:'(

Despite rigid programming standards, Would Bonneville tamper with the successful programming of KGO? Everyone thought that when Entercom took over Classical KDFC, That it would change formats. But here it is, almost 2 years later, and KDFC is still Classical.

its not a matter of programming, it's a matter of opinion and values.

bonneville tries to push its insane and bigoted "family values" upon listeners by dumping any urban format.

98 rock was also tops in afternoons, nights , and weekends....

98 Rock was actually #2 12 plus in mornings. In our target demo (adults 18-49) 98 Rock had a 12.8 share in mornings, a 13.3 share in middays, a 13.0 share in afternoons and a 12.5 share at night...all #1. Weekends also #1.
