Whatever the offer was, it couldn't really have been serious. To get the Mayor back from the beach, it'd take a contract that a) pays substantially more than what he's getting on the contract he's riding out for the term of the present deal, b) pays him about what he's making now but for a significantly longer term, c) some combination of a & b, and/or d) comes from a company that is likely to exist in some recognizable form in six months.
The very notion of a KNIX deal fails on every count. The money to lure Pratt back is plainly not there in the current radio climate, and CC will soon be either pre-packaged-chapter-elevened or involuntarily chapter-sevened any day now.

About 5 years ago, Pratt was hired by KMLE to beat KNIX and take out Tim and Willy. Mission accomplished. Love him or hate him, a Pratt station has never failed. That is why KUPD and KMLE still carry Pratt's signature with imaging, marketing, promotions and more. Pratt's big footprint is still heard every single day, even when he is not on the air. Wouldn't it be ironic if KNIX hired Pratt to do the same thing and beat KMLE and take out Tim and Willy again? Pratt's a hired gun and will go to the highest bidder. That is why he has made more money than anybody in the history of Arizona broadcasting, radio or TV. You don't have to love him, but you do have to give The Mayor his due. As for 4 and out the door, isn't everybody? Most morning personalities do the majority of their work from home. Only their actual show is from the studio. As for ego, name somebody in our industry who doesn't have an ego and I'll show you a failure.

You basically have two country stations that have been gutted over the past few years. Result: two country stations competing for 2 and 3 shares. A once good radio battle destroyed by CHEAPNESS and STUPIDITY.

From what I hear, Pratt pretty much was the PD at KUPD and KMLE. He just didn't want the official title, but in many ways, he ran both stations.

No, but I have met Dave twice (although briefly) and he nearly worked for me several years ago.

3. Pratt obviously doesn't want to be a PD. If he did, he'd have taken a PD job by now, and I'm sure he's been offered.

Pratt already dominated in rock, and he already beat Ben and Matt and Tim and Willy. He probably wants a new challenge. How about news talk? Or sports? Or is Ford correct in believing that he doesn't have to work. It is more than interesting that he has turned down CC twice, yet they are meeting again this week. Where there is smoke there is fire.
