Not sure I'll have the chance to check it out, but if I could I'd ask Michael Harrison about a topic I've raised on these threads several times, the lack of local talk radio in New York. As has been noted, markets 2 through 4 (LA, Chicago, SF) and smaller have strong commitments to local talk. In NY, the #1 market, it's virtually non-existent. For a world-class market, NY has talk radio that sounds more like market #200.
From these threads, the biggest reason for this is that the biggest names in NY talk radio are now deceased or retired. In NY, Madison Ave ad agencies will only pay for top drawer talent (Beck, Rush & Sean). It seems there is no local talent that would command an audience advertisers would pay for.
As the publisher of Talkers Magazine, I think Michael Harrison would have the answer to this question. I hope the show will be made available via podcast.
The only NY station I listen to consistently is WFAN, occaisionally WCBS-AM. If I weren't a sports fan, I wouldn't listen to radio at all.
