The tease used to be an effective tool for keeping the viewer tuned in, but with the internet, I usually know what story they are talking about and realize that I can turn off the TV after the one minute blurb of local news ends.
I guess the only real reason I might watch the news is for an investigative piece that I find interesting. Otherwise, I have already read about it on the internet, or heard about it on KFYI or KTAR.
Also, people like to talk about the news, which is best done via the internet and/or talk radio. McAzcentral.com and Eastvalleytribune.com all allow comments on the news stories, or on one of the talk stations.
