Progressive Talk - Big Jump in San Diego

Also, because the power/reach of the stations tend to be closer to the same level. There are exceptions, of course. We could compare to Mayor Bloomberg's station in NY (WLIB regularly beats it) or the ESPN station in NY (again, WLIB beats it) and both those stations are 50kW.

I don't think anyone thinks that AAR/libtalk is on the same playing field as the number one talkers in the nation or the top sports or all news stations for that matter.

Amen. Also comparing audiences for AAR or Salem with blow-torch dominant talkers is like comparing paid attendance in the minor and major leagues. It's not a fair comparison.

Some day we may well see big-stick talk stations with progressive hosts that are the equivalent of the big gun talkers with conservative hosts. Someday, but not now. If and when it happens, these stations will have their own local brand identities. They will not promote themselves by "network affiliation." Any more than WABC calls itself "EIB New York" or "Big Apple Premiere Radio."
