Progressive talk going bye-bye

I can't figure out what Snyder and company are trying to do with 1260, but I think that unless the powers-that-be are anticipating the demise of 1190 in Annapolis, this move seems to be an exercise in futility. Personally, I think that either 1260 or 570 would've been better outlets for Spanish sports than 730. Snyder et. al. should seriously consider dumping both 730 and either 1260 or 570 (I'd say sacrifice the latter). Maybe the gang at WAGE could buy out say 570 and not do the upgrades they are planning for on 1190.

In any regard, it goes to show that Air America and progressive talk has been a failure outside of only a handful of markets. The only thing keeping it alive is money form people like Soros et. al. With the sole survivor from 1260 being Ed Schultze who will move to 570 after the change, I don't see the benefit.

And just where is the evidence that Air America is being "kept alive with money from Soros?" Not that there would be anything wrong with Soros shooting some money to Air America, but there is no credible evidence that he ever has.

Ever notice that George Soros is the default boogeyman for everything in the world that upsets the right wing?

The Republicans lost the election, so George Soros must have spent Election Day stuffing ballot boxes for the Dems. If there is an increase in illegal immigrants crossing the border, it must be George Soros personally extending his hand and helping them to hop across. And if white male Republicans aren't having as much sex as they once did...well hold on...we'll think of a way to pin the blame on Soros. And who knows...maybe he even killed Vince Foster?

Well, Soros has been involved in quite a few of what I'll call 'regressive' endeavors and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Soros helped the Greens financially despite the fact that the Greens are pretty well off financially.

There is probably more than enough evidence that Soros was involved with the recount in the Minnesota Senatorial election this past time. IIRC Franken specifically endorsed Soros' help. Whether or not Soros helped or not, there is more than enough evidence of foul play. Now on your other points, I don't hold Soros responsible for those.

Let me state that the extreme right wing of the Republican party speaks no more for me than the extremists on the other side of the aisle. I have not voted for a major party candidate for president since 1992 and I will continue to cast my ballot accordingly unless and until either major party supports the causes which I do. If it were up to me I'd like to see hosts like Irv Homer, Jaz McKay or Brian Wilson on local radio.

"Well, Soros has been involved in quite a few of what I'll call 'regressive' endeavors".

Yeh? Name one.

"I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Soros helped the Greens financially despite the fact that the Greens are pretty well off financially."

You wouldn't be the least bit surprised, but you offer no proof that Soros helped the Greens or anyone else. More unsubstantiated blather.

"There is probably more than enough evidence that Soros was involved with the recount in the Minnesota Senatorial election this past time."

And just what part of your anatomy did you pull this one out of? Not from any part above your neck. I ask again--where's the evidence? where's the beef?

If George Soros weren't such a well-known figure, he could have a field day filing and winning slander and libel-related lawsuits. Your posts in this thread, Klutch, are the biggest waste of bandwidth I've seen here in some time, and sweet Jesus, that is really saying something.

"In latest ratings, done while libtalk, WWRC placed 38th place"

I haven't checked the D.C breakout Raccoon, but you are probably about right. Of course, this statement says nothing about the viability of progressive talk as a format, because no commitment has been made to the station for years by any of its owners. It has been technically deficient for a long time, and thus can't be heard over much of the D.C. metro. It also has had no local programming, or promotion.

In other words, it's easy to forget it's even there, and many people appear to have done just that.

And in response to the question about George Soros, he's been a spectacularly successful investor, businessman and political activist, with Forbes Magazine estimating his net worth at about nine billion dollars. In other words, a man of somewhat greater consequence than most who post here--myself included.

If you call manipulkation of currency in multiple countries using Communist money "political activism", sure. I call that subversion of soverieign nations, including the United States. They should send his sorry butt back to Hungary.

Please pardon my ignorance, who is George Soros? I have never heard or read that name.

Oh, he's just some little guy who destroyed the economies of entire countries for not giving him his way, was prosecuted, convicted and will never return to those countries again - for obvious reasons.

It is called The Cold War Goes On to bury us from within.

I recall the Chinese government telling Bill Clinton, as reported in the Baltimore Sun in 1993, "If people have some money in their pockets they don't worry about such things as freedom".

Classic right wing tactics here. If you disagree with the guy, and resent his influence, level some unspecified charges--in full drama queen mode, of course.

We've seen numerous moves in recent years in more than a few countries to hunt down, indict and bring to justice various criminals, human rights abusers and scofflaws. But so far as I know, no one is after George Soros, except of course a handful of right-wing talk hosts in the U-S and their devotees.

Is Soros a total angel? Probably not, few of us are. Would he ever be tarred and feathered on these boards to the extent that he is, were it not for his support of progressive politics? We already know the answer.

Perhaps you need to do just an itty bitty bit more research

You are doing it again, Silkie. A one-line innuendo with no substantiation-meaningless.

I say it again--if you have something of substance on Soros, say it. Otherwise, let's all move on.
