Dave Jackson must be the old 'YCR jock I sometimes hear on spots when sampling WGTY.
Rick Nettles (Kevin nettleship, son of WSBA "Morning Mayor" Hal Raymond,
Wow, Hal had a son who worked in radio. I knew he had a daughter...

Yeah, Danny Carlisle. I remember when he worked for 98YCR and WQXA at thesame time, though I don't recall which WQXA format. Thanx for your contribution, karlyle (Danny?)

84-85Lisa Harding did afternoons, now in Chambersburg,Keith Allen did nites, now on Long Island at B103.Rocky Spino did mornings.Dave Jackson middays.

That is indeed the same Dave Jackson from 98YCR days...Larry Rhoten was the news guy there for a while, he too works at WGET now after a stint as the editor of the Gettysburg Times. Brad Kindig also did news at 98YCR for a while. Chris Connor did nights back in the early 1980's (when they signed off at 2 AM). He also did nights at WGTY as Pat Case. Unfortunately, Pat passed away not too long ago. Gary Kurtz did an early evening slot (6-9) after Pat's departure from 98YCR, Rick Nettles then did 9-midnight. Also in the early 80's, there were a couple female jocks there...Piper Anne (who then went to doing news/traffic at WASH in DC), and a part-timer named Marie Peeler (who was incredibly hot).Jason Kidd (now on XM 80's on 8 at night) also walked the hallowed halls of 98YCR as did Priestly of XM's "90's on 9". Danny Carlisle didn't work for both 98YCR and WQXA at the same time, it was "Hot 105.7" first, then he moved over to 98YCR originally as a morning guy paired with Jim Cooke (replacing Paul Scott, now PD/Mornings at York, Smooth Jazz 92.7), then after a few weeks moved to afternoons, switching spots with Davy Crockett...which paved the way for the long running "Cooke & Crockett Morning Show"....

Jason Kidd used the name Kidd Kelley when he was there the first time as a partimer. You can also add the names Jon E Quest (mornings), Amy Groff (news), Ed Clark (news), Harley Davidson (Rich Davis)(weekends), Jeff Roteman (music coordinator) (weekends), Mark Feather (overnights), Curt Foster (weekends). During the Willie B era, Al Brock worked a few weekends between gigs. Fran Rose worked a couple of weekends, as did Kris Earl Phillips and Downtown Billy Brown (as the Janitor). By the way, is it true that Mark Feather was on XM for awhile?

A couple more names come to mind. John Pellegrini (mornings), Deb Fox (weekend), KC Knight (weekends), Shannon Steeler (weekends).

Here is the April 1983 lineup (from April 1983 98YCR Street Sheet)Weekdays 6-10 am Joe Colombo, 10-1 pm Dave Jackson, 1-3 pm Piper Ann, 3-6 pm Capt. John Lawrence, 6-9 pm gary Kurtz, 9-2 am Chris Connor.Saturdays 6-9 am Jay Mattison, 1-6 pm Wayne Gracey, 6-9 pm Gary Kurtz, 9-2 am Dennis Johnson.Sundays 1-2 pm Wally Daniels, 2-7 pm Marie Peeler, 8 - 2 am, Chris ConnorNews: Larry Rhoten, weekdays Brad Kindig, weekendsTotal Weather: Paul Douglas and Tom Clark

And even more part-timers come to mind...Rick White, Commander Chuck Beck, Sgt. York (Bob Waters when he was a part-timer), Jeff Daniels, and Maddie Hayes. Lou Robinson (from B-104) did a couple of shifts before heading to Houston to Program "Hit Video USA". Also Pete Michaels did one shift.

BTW, feel free to dig up the "Old School WYCR" thread and add some stuff.

I must've tuned in near the end of the 'QXA gig.

I've got 1 more late 80's 98YCR weekender. Jo Jo Stevens. At the time he was working part-time at 4 or 5 stations at the same time. His real name is Andy Shane. He later got a gig at WIKZ in Chambersburg as MD. From there he mad the jump all the way to Z100 in New York as MD. He won the Air Competition a couple of times and became head of A&R at Lava records.

I remembered a couple more 98YCR names from the late 80's. Rockin' Bob Miller worked part time. Also Andy Waits from WINK 104 worked at YCR using the name Mason Dixon.
Also a correction, Shannon Steeler should have been Shannon Steele. She later became Courtney Foxx at WIKZ.

Another piece in the Danny Carlisle timeline...

He was at FM97 in the mid-80s (1985, 86, 87...) Dave Marino was PD, Brian 'Brother' Weems in morning, Gary Maxwell was there at that time...

This is Larry Rhoten. I saw all of the recent updates regarding 98YCR. I was listed as a former editor at the Gettysburg Times when, in fact, I was Director of News Operations at the Times, along with WGET/WGTY in the mid-90s. I am now back full time in news at WGET/WGTY.

Also, there was mention of Gary Kurtz. I can tell you that, after spending some time in the Roanoke, VA market, Gary is now in radio sales in Boston. He lives in Shrewsbury, MA, near Worcester. He is married to a girl that he met while working at 98YCR. She was a student at Gettysburg College. I forget her air name, but Mary Jo is now Mrs. Gary Kurtz. She does free-lance writing.

Dave Jackson is now program director at WGET. Mark Richards (Mark Purdy) is now an executive at Adams County National Bank.

John Lawrence, the former station manager who went on to sales at Susquehanna, died a few years ago.

I did nights at YCR in 1975, when it was known as "Stereo 98, The Rock of the Region." John Lawrence, station manager did mornings and Dennis Alan did afternoons. We signed off from midnight to 6 am.

What was with all this "Rock of Harrisburg" and "Rock of the Region" business during the 1970s?

I still like that tale about the cow wandering into John's Production studio...
