PandK_71 said:Everyone seems to forget the real question about 93.3 The Bone.
Will they have to face a lawsuit from Pugs and Kelly?
P&K's defense-We worked as hard as Russ Martin, where's our 3 million for the next 2 years?
Didn't they get that when they signed with the Bone?
Albert19X said:In the meantime, PandK_71, we're still waiting for the details about the supposed lawsuit P&k filed against 105.3 last year. Can't you find the records?

Moving The Ticket to FM would make the most sense. I'd love to see how a three way SportsTalk battle on FM would turn out.
For those of us living outside DFW: Did KTCK get back to full power after losing the three towers last year? Haven't been able to tell on my last few trips to the market.

It may be boring to most, but the bottom line....They make money. Just like KSOC/KBFB. They don't want to be number one, they just want to take some market share and revenues from Service Broadcasting. If they do that, then they have done their job.
Albert19X said:Then you're talking blasphemy on this board. From what I've read here anything less than #1 in your demographic calls for a complete staff blowout and an immediate format change, ideally to smooth jazz.

We have 3 right-wing talk stations so why not 3 sports?

Yes, they repaired those towers and are back at full strength. I just keep wondering why folk want the Ticket on 93.3. They are doing pretty well on 1310. If there is solid evidence that moving from 1310 to 93.3 will boost the revenues, then I am sure the switch would have been done a long time ago.
I smell a format flip soon... No morning show, no afternoon show, no PD...
Just a matter of time before it is 93.3 The Ticket....

I've brought this up a few times before as an idea (i.e. how come we haven't seen FM simulcasts of 820, 1080, and 1310 yet like other markets) because it is a growing trend across the country that operators seem to be abandoning the AM dial as the remaining audience for it ages and shrinks. There are now 200+ FM news/talk, talk, or sports FMs across the country -- not counting the non-commercial NPR types. Cox killed the contemporary Christian format on KKCM 102.3 Tulsa and flipped it to a simulcast of news/talk KRMG 740 as the latest one today. KTCK obviously is doing fine right now...however, it is the sole AM left in the market with any sort of decent 25-54 numbers. Over time, the audience will age out and today's younger generation to move into 25-54 to replace them don't listen to AM radio.
The overwhelming reason given for all the AM-to-FM migrations elsewhere is to get younger since younger folks do not listen to the AM dial. Many of the migrations to FM (or added FM simulcasts) have netted better 25-54 numbers (i.e. WXYT 1270 Detroit adding former "Free FM" talker 97.1 there as a simulcast). Since KDBN has terrible 25-54 numbers, making it KTCK-FM probably would be similar to what happened in Detroit. A KTCK-FM doesn't even have to match KDBN's numbers to make it come out even revenue-wise since (a) you've removed the cost of the separate format and (b) KTCK has more advertising minutes/sponsored segments than KDBN. KTCK probably does miss some potential listeners due to the 1310 facility -- difficult to hear in some office buildings, weaker on the west side of the market, weak nighttime pattern for early AM drive and later PM drive in the fall/winter months, etc. Obviously, they know it is limited or it would not be simulcast on KKLF 1700, KTDK 104.1, and on the HD2 of KPLX 99.5 to try to cover the market. 93.3 could fix some of that.
