Pulse format to go the syndication route

In my opinion syndication is not the way to go at all. Radio has lost its local appeal. Each market should have its own feel. Some records don't work in some markets. DRN its one feed. How will that translate from market to market? You need a satellite feed or internet feed. Not to knock Clint but Kris programmed WMPH and decided the music to put in. Satellite isnt cheap and the internet, you have broadband concerns and it the possibility of losing the feed. Having the database on location is what to do. The set up in Vegas with Mike and Mark was a good situation and they do not have to worry about a air staff right now. I do run some syndicated programming but its not the bulk of the programming.

You nailed short and sweet bettter than I could Brett,, and thats why I like stations like yours.. The school stations are always local and involed and in touch with the local community, and although off topic, thats one reason why I was much deeper saddened to see WMPH go bust than I was to see Pulse go bust.. granted I dont want to lose any dance format in any city. Well.. nuff said.

If a format is syndicated but only has one affiliate, the programmer can tailor the programming to that one affiliate. Unless pulse87ny.com will be considered as another affiliate.

Brett, I DO agree with you about each market having its own appeal. I really do.

Unfortunately, we're at a bad time where corporations just want to cut things left and right (I'm losing my job of 16 years in January). :( and these companies would rather just subscribe to something on a bird rather than pay salary/benefits to a staff. Especially the smaller a market is, you know. Yet like I had said about Energy 98 and Fusion, they keep the programming "generic". But for you Brett, you can get away with being local on Z88.9 and that's a good thing because you guys are "right there". I'd rather have that local feel and in the huge markets, it can remain that way. But just looking all over, it can't happen for most places, and that is sad.

Is Mark out as PD???? I f***ing dn't get this...Mark has the best playlist of all the existing dance stations...and they bring in the Pulse...huh???? ??? The *** is up......Another attempt at pinching pennys...bad move.I'm ok with Pulse Syndicating...just not the Vibe they "get it" and sound fantastic .

You dont have to pay benefits. How about hiring part timers to come on and jock the station? There are a lot od DJ's out there that are out of work or new upcoming DJ's that want to cut their teeth.

Wait, so just when The Vibe was starting to sound REALLY good, they are going to become an affiliate of Pulse 87 (which quite frankly kinda sucked?)?? This blows.
