Cedric, I totally agree. Whats the point of having a huge playlist and only play a few songs along with talking over the music. That's why radio pretty much sucks. Also, I love the fact that Q105 injects Wal-Mart style censoring of whatever "they" deem as not tasteful. Then when M. Jackson croaks, they fall all over themselves on the morning show about what a great showman he was when in fact he was another Jerry Sandusky. What a bunch of phoneys.
A few points:
1.) Talking over the music is a lost art. As they say, "don't try this at home," well, if you can't do it right, don't. It is why it died. Talking over the music complements the song when done right. Since the Eighties, the art has been lost.
2.) Music based radio stations are running into a problem because they have to compete with iPods, iPhones, iPads, Pandora, and with iheart, etc, they are competing with stations from all over the world. In addition, they have to pay royalties to play those songs that people may, or may not, want to hear at the time it is playing. There are only so many songs in the Public Domain.
3.) Michael Jackson focused his life in music and enjoyed performing and watching people enjoying themselves. Michael Jackson, mentally, was still a child. He never grew up, emotionally. Didnt have to although Joe tried to and we know how he was treated. Michael wanted to be a kid and didn't want to grow up. There will be a whole wall of psychology books dealing with Michael Jackson. I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon will have a bunch of books available. So far, I'm not seeing much of a connection with Jackson and Sandusky.
All these complaints you have can be solved by #2.
